Chris from South Jersey, United Stateswow - some blasts from the past here!! Do you also have an 8 track player still boxed up Ronnie? 5 Nov 2009 9:15pm @Chris: hee hee . . no, never got into 8-Track . . I don't think the family car was big enough, Chris ! António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalJust a radio? Impossible. It surely is also a computer, a mobile phone, a GPS, a camera (medium format, of course, given the size). 5 Nov 2009 10:19pm MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyI think Lilly's will work for another 20 years; not sure if Ronny's will do so. 5 Nov 2009 10:56pm sylvia cole from United StatesLilly...I think yours needs a good cleaning with a clorox wipe. Uck. Ronnie's looks pristine. 5 Nov 2009 11:05pm @sylvia cole: Ah, Lilly offered to clean it but I said a NO-NO . . we wanted the contrast and said let's shoot them as they are. Our only regret is what I mention to Emi!ly, below. Thanks for being with us, Sylvia ! (Ronnie) Em!ly Ng from Residing in: Adelaide, Australia | Home:, Singaporethe boxes in the background a nice touch. 5 Nov 2009 11:11pm @Em!ly Ng: We both agree with you on the antenna and Lilly offered to re-take her shot with the thing extended once she saw my pic and/or I was going to ghost one in from somewhere but we had simply reached our ‘cut-off’ point for the posting. Know what you are saying about the posing and I doubt I would do that with a different photo-hat on but, on this site, we often create the message in the studio so the rules kinda shift. We wanted a contrast between the trashed radio and one with original packing, instructions, guarantee (expired) and handwritten receipt from 1965 ! Thanks for your participation – we love it ! (Lilly and Ronnie) Michael from Shell village, United KingdomI don't know what Lily has found... but I recognize that old Russian beast - the Zenith, well known for its shortwave reception. :) Marvellous flash back Ron. What else have you got... a phonograph by any chance :) 6 Nov 2009 12:38am @Michael: Hey, that's not Russian . . you're thinking of those solid cameras they used to make - I once had a Zenith E and damn' good it was ! My radio here is good ol' USA. (Ronnie) John Maslowski from Dallas, PA, United StatesLike going back in time. These radios look in amazingly good condition. Great shot with excellent details. 6 Nov 2009 3:19am dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaDefinitely a call back the past photo. Looks like you've been rummaging through my garage again! Must say that the invoice here is just too precious. 6 Nov 2009 6:07am @dobbino: Yes, that handwritten invoice from Harrods, Knightsbridge, 22/09/65 for £172 0 8p (US$286) is likely worth more than the radio ! (Ronnie) grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomRadiohead...... Tuning.....Ah yes.... I think I've got your wavelength now. Nicely digitally challenged. The built in aerial handle is a masterpiece of design. 6 Nov 2009 10:50am @grouser: . . yup, until you want to carry it around ! (Ronnie) bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaSuch great lines in the this shot, so perfectly straight. I like the contrast the the radios against the grain of the shelf and the box behind. Most of all...you've just taken me back to my childhood, my dad had something so similar (if not identical) sitting on his workbench when I was a kid. Thank you for this :) 6 Nov 2009 12:08pm @bluechameleon: Thanks, Sharon. Each person sees something different in this posting - and that's real nice. k@ from Paris, FranceOld stuffs become brand new ones become old again ~ Life circle ;) 6 Nov 2009 12:16pm @k@: hee hee . . yes, I think I'm overdue to be renewed ! Got my name down. (Ronnie) Amanda from Jersey City, United StatesIt's amazing how fast technology changes. The fact that I don't even own a radio anymore says something. 6 Nov 2009 2:17pm Michael from Shell village, United KingdomWell... done Ronnie you passed the test LOL, of course I knew it was USA ^_^ 6 Nov 2009 4:19pm @Michael: hee hee . . I'm busy looking for phonograph needles, now . . Woolworth's is closed, did you know ? ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesWhat's radio...that before the iTouch? best...jerry 6 Nov 2009 6:18pm `Paul from Minneapolis, United States.. anohter gem of a composition.. unique, once again, and cleverly conceived ... i love that old zenith too. 6 Nov 2009 7:28pm Christel from Köln, GermanyGood evening, Ronnie, 6 Nov 2009 8:37pm Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceMore treasures !!!... You are very preservative... even original packings! 6 Nov 2009 9:02pm Daryl Johnson from Farnham, United KingdomIt amazes me, technology these days. Who would have imagined we'd one day have radios that you could carry from room to room in your house? It makes you wonder what's coming next. 6 Nov 2009 10:34pm Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesIt's a shame Zenith is no longer around...at least in the States. Seemed to always be a "big name" back then. I like how that handle folds out as an antenna. You don't find many of these on people's shoulders anymore. ;-) I was wondering what that "flip-down" was in front of the Zenith until I clicked on the tech and promo link you shared. 6 Nov 2009 11:19pm akarui from Kagoshima, JapanIf I remember well Zenith was a very good brand radio. Still have the bill Ronnie? the guarranty must be over... 6 Nov 2009 11:50pm Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesI still have a Zenith radio just like Ronnie's. It's 40 years old and still works but I don't use it much. I don't have the box though. Darn. 7 Nov 2009 12:27am Dulcie from Danville, CA, United StatesGrand photo...THOSE were the days...NOT ! 7 Nov 2009 3:11am Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainGreat one! And I like very much this old invoice of Harrod's :)) 7 Nov 2009 5:46am @zOOm: yup, something about this old stuff that's missing these days . . the weight to start with ! Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesWell, Zenith made a good product... and I used to listen to the Russians on my radio, Radio Cuba as well and shake my head at the propaganda that came pouring out... (it seems I'm hearing similar stuff from my own government now days but that is just my opinion).... :)) 7 Nov 2009 2:21pm @Earnest: ha ha . . you are right with all that, Earnest. I tend to remember it for Radio Luxembourg in the 49M band . . but, yes, Radio Moscow was a bit of a hoot back in those days ! (Ronnie) |
