: Ronnie : Your crossing looks really basic and straightforward. Lilly : Yours looks kinda sophisticated . . what's that third position mean? Ronnie : It means you are in big trouble.

Even in for a crossing we have complicated things, amazing! =)

Lilly's is straight forward, Ron's by the time you figure it out you've missed the light. The potential for jay walking has to be twice as much.

I like the US version best, straightforward. Nobody ever reads those 'Wait' boxes.

The right one reminds me of the instructions for usage of the 'zero gravity toilet' in the movie '2001'.

DO or DON'T ! There are always paradoxical orders everywhere ! :-)

I like the classical one, too. sometimes old thing is easier than new one..

The newer one certainly takes the explanation over the top. It is like the "Vegas" of crossing signals!

neat comparison, love that third position in R's. i've been thinking for a long time they need to have something like that, and apparently in some places they do! good to know! :)

I think the third one means run like blue blazes or someone will hit you. I like Lilly's best too. Anyhow the cross with care and the do not start to cross signs are so similar. ummmmm.

These things never work for me. I push the button, the signal changes, and I end up still standing there --nothing ever seems to happen after the signal changes.

Yeah, I'll take the first one... I've never been good at reading hieroglyphics -- The first Japanese car I ever rented with multiple wavy lines on every knob and switch really threw me for a loop. I see I've missed some really clever posts before this one... all good ones.

Excellent idea, as always! Hey, Lilly, don't you feel a bit intimidated that Ronnie has that kind of technology at his disposal!

@Andrew Gould: (from Lilly) He doesn't even have a pizza cutter. I think I'm okay. :)
Talk about specific instructions on how to cross the street... good one, guys!

that's the first time i've seen something like what ronnie's got.. looks very high tech, old timers might be intimidated with this.. :D

I like the little green walking men they have in Spain, who stroll with a laid back, rolling gait. As the time to cross gets less they walk faster, almost running. They also have ones showing the time you have to wait until you can cross, counting the seconds down.
