Shirin S. Moosavi from Tehran, IranIf I were to ring the bell on the right, I would put my finger on the buzzer for 5 minutes! 24 Nov 2008 12:08pm @Shirin S. Moosavi: : dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaWell - here's another for the minority vote! As they say, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. I must say the combination of a really old yet beautiful button (I'm sure a bit of polish would bring out the best in it), and then a modern version underneath on Lilly's shot really makes this side of the equation very special. 24 Nov 2008 12:31pm @dobbino: : dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesI think the idea also relates to mobile phone ringtones. What your phone is saying says a lot about you - good or bad. In addition, how long it takes someone to answer the bell may even be more important than what it looks like. Great shots. 24 Nov 2008 1:13pm Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaLOL would that be someone insecure, one wonders...briliant L R 24 Nov 2008 1:39pm JoeB from Brampton, CanadaThe old bells are gone replaced by battery operated ones which could fail at any unknown moment, then you have to go further back and use your knuckles. 24 Nov 2008 1:48pm António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalI shall follow your advice when knocking on Heaven's door. That's for ever, I presume. 24 Nov 2008 2:28pm yz from Budapest, HungaryFunny. I always wonder why people add obvious text labels for obvious situations: yes, that's a bell, yes that's a button - those who cannot figure it out also won't be able to read it :))) 24 Nov 2008 2:56pm MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyI wonder why the sheet of paper on the left side looks so worn... 24 Nov 2008 3:11pm Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesI like this one very much because I'm viewing it with an engineer's (nerd's) mind... Now retired I have often told my sons that I was paid throughout my career for learning to read and apply instructions and that education had very little to do with engineering... The frustrating thing for engineers is that people often tend to overlook written statements.. and I would expect the sign on the left to fail many more times than the arrow on the right because the arrow on the right says, "OK, you're an idiot, lets try to make this easy for you." 24 Nov 2008 4:11pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesI pressed the ornate one for an unexpected cuppa and biscuits with the matriarch in residence. best...jerry 24 Nov 2008 4:52pm Alphons from Kaatsheuvel, NetherlandsHumoristic picture in nice colours and composition. 24 Nov 2008 5:46pm Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomI just keep trying to imagine the sound each of those buzzers would make. 25 Nov 2008 1:05am JJ from Jersey City, United Statesshame to see the old doorbell so worn and rusty looking, and the other more modern one, appears not to be obvious to many hence it being clearly pointed to, very cool work again 25 Nov 2008 1:25am Gary from Cochise County, United StatesRonnie, I bet you don't get too many introverts that come to your door. 25 Nov 2008 2:01am Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesA whimsical but very interesting composite. I like this. 25 Nov 2008 2:31am Michael Skorulski from Cigel, Slovakiafunny how everyone who has a bell seems to think we need help in ringing it. 25 Nov 2008 2:41am willow from Chelsea, United StatesReally cool combination of images. I'm not quite sure which bell I'd rther ring, though. 25 Nov 2008 3:33am akarui from Kagoshima, JapanThe arrow might be good as a stranger might not understand English. I remember when I came first to my future wife appartement I press a red button thinking it would open the entrance door but unfortunatly it was an alarm that people could hear in all the building... There were 2 kanjis on that button saying "emergency" but I could not read Japanese at that time. 25 Nov 2008 3:34am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaYour commentary/conversations are just priceless! Well..I am not too clear on this image, there seems to be no direction or order ;) 25 Nov 2008 4:19am Framed and Shot from Houston, United StatesCompeting for attention. This scene could probably devide the worlds population in two, those who take instruction and the rest of us... Great find. 25 Nov 2008 4:41am Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainIt looks like a busy entrance, LOL. 25 Nov 2008 5:00am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesNot the fancy doorbells I've had attributed to you two. The sign on the right makes more sense to me though. I know I wouldn't want anyone entering because they pressed a button. 25 Nov 2008 5:14am jamesy from christchurch, New ZealandWell done hehehe a good laugh obviously the English have trouble spotting door bells hehehe 25 Nov 2008 5:34am Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomI think Lillys bell-push has a lot more character :) 25 Nov 2008 5:36am Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdomi like the older looking bell, nice one 25 Nov 2008 6:27am tyan from Singapore, Singaporeso funny, esp the one on the right,it is as if the owner is afraid people do not know where to press the bell,he had to repeat his instructions!:) 25 Nov 2008 6:28am Zing from Hamilton, New ZealandLOL. Love the instructions and the arrow. Like the old bell too. 25 Nov 2008 6:56am Isao from isère, FranceGreat diptych !!! 25 Nov 2008 8:45am lisa v from Gawler, Australia:D People come here and never know what door to go to, there's 3 at the front of the house,..they work out pretty quickly that the side entrance is the way to go though. 25 Nov 2008 11:06am Tracey from White Hall, United StatesAhhh! I missed stopping in to see you two! Great one as always...I don't see many doorbells around now days! Love it! 25 Nov 2008 1:32pm Carson from Portland, United StatesHow do you keep your work so fresh?! It's a true feat and quite marvelous. (Thanks for the stop by, btw...the Fulci tribute continues.) Happy Thanksgiving, too! 25 Nov 2008 4:30pm pedro from loures, Portugali agree! its the initial but we never know, if some one don't suprise you!!! ilike the rusty door bell 25 Nov 2008 8:56pm Conflagratio from Valencia, SpainIntrigant composition with a clean detaill here, I like it so much. Regards. 25 Nov 2008 9:45pm Andrew Gould from Sydney, AustraliaThis combination makes me smile! Love the way you two focus ( literally) on the small things in life. Wonderfully presented. 25 Nov 2008 10:15pm Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceNo doubt, nobody can make a mistake there... funny details. 25 Nov 2008 11:06pm one way photo / Mark from London, United KingdomAnother very clever shot... nice play on words for the title too ;-) 28 Nov 2008 1:02pm Rabbit from Richmond, United StatesI think that too. When the signs would get all ratty looking I always printed out new ones and hung them up. I just think it looked sloppy & if your sign is sloppy what would make anyone thing you would do nice work? 2 Dec 2008 2:29pm Doug from Long Beach, United StatesAttention? Just by ringing a buzzer? Oh, how grand. 5 Dec 2008 6:44am |
