António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalWouldn't it be a lot more secure with a "beware of the dog" sign? 10 Jul 2009 1:44pm Tamara Tantrum from Fort Myers, FL, United StatesYour two shots always work so well together. Like harmony! 10 Jul 2009 3:22pm jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United StatesVery nice. The "Security Apartments" leave me feeling less than secure. Maybe its the stenciled sign! 10 Jul 2009 4:13pm @jeff (aka dogilicious): (from Lilly) The sign is actually stained glass!! dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaThought that 1015 was maybe the time you took the photo, but seizing the gold reserves sounds quite painful, so I will shut up! Brilliantly done! 10 Jul 2009 4:31pm Barbara from Florida, United StatesPerfection in putting these entrances together. I like the look of a castle with the lion heads. Did they name it Security Apartments before or after the bars on the windows? 10 Jul 2009 8:28pm @Barbara: : (from Ronnie) Not quite Prince Charles . . mine was the doorway of The Hall of the Worshipful Company of Innholders, in College Street, City of London . . but they were incorporated under a Royal Charter in 1514 ! Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesThe name "Security Apartments" sends the wrong message to me. On top of that, the font used for the signage makes the sign seem somewhat "tacky." On the other hand, ronnie's shot seems completely opposite where it give the impression that you are free to enter and leave at anytime and that there is no worry about the ornate work atop the door. Interesting comparison. 10 Jul 2009 9:26pm Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesI must agree just a bit with Steve... I somehow see the apartments being owned by someone named Scarface or Slasher.... I also am suspicious of what the sign behind the door says... my imagination races... 10 Jul 2009 10:09pm @Earnest: (from Lilly) The sign behind the door says "Booth Rental Available" if that helps! Daryl Johnson from Farnham, United Kingdom"Security Apartments"... lovely name, just sounds so inviting. 10 Jul 2009 10:11pm akarui from Kagoshima, JapanI am not sure if this is private entrances. The 2 lions and "security" name are not very wellcoming in my eyes. Nice juxtaposition. 10 Jul 2009 10:51pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesIs 30...AD or BC? best...jerry 11 Jul 2009 12:17am Joanna Jenkins from United States"Security Building". Does it have a "welcome" mat :-) 11 Jul 2009 5:05am Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainGood pair! And suggestive signs to make think :) 11 Jul 2009 5:14am djedfre from schaumburg, United Statesi bet lilly's lions could eat your coat of arms! 11 Jul 2009 5:34am Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaI love doors, and entrances and windows, above all they catch my attention, this duo is fantastic! Security apartments. Wouldn't that be asking for trouble? Or do they mean the apt. are secure because of special security...lol I hope so 'cause if you're posting apts that belong to the security service, write your will, fast ;) 11 Jul 2009 10:06am Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceBeautiful doors and different styles... I prefer right... and maybe a ghost... inside ? 11 Jul 2009 11:07am grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomYou may have a tough time of it Lilly, I think all the gold has gone to the pawnbrokers along with just about everything else. 12 Jul 2009 10:06am Anita from West Nottingham, United StatesBeautifully and seamlessly put together. It is hard to believe these two magnificent dorways aren't actually standing side-by-side. 12 Jul 2009 11:07am Chris from South Jersey, United Stateswhat a wonderful contrast in doorways...... 12 Jul 2009 11:41am Tracey from Maryland, United StatesHehe! Too funny. I think L is right...that is as close to a castle as we get around here! ;0) 12 Jul 2009 12:55pm Richard Irwin from Belper, United KingdomHa ha, the wit in this take is spot on, and I just love the mingling of transatlantic styles. 12 Jul 2009 1:21pm Pied Crow from Nairobi, KenyaOne of my favorites of your recent work, just makes me smile. 12 Jul 2009 11:08pm MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyHahaha, touché! This 'Security Apartments' entry looks like you're having a security check yourself! :-D 13 Jul 2009 7:28am Andrew Gould from Sydney, AustraliaHow immaculately you've combined these two doorways, and what beautiful light and textures. And then there's the wonderful humour, of course... 13 Jul 2009 7:59am |
