The blur is 100% natural in this one because I photographed the newspaper right there at the scene ! (Ronnie) Elaine- from Vancouver, Canadaso is that the place in the background? you take the coolest pics!!! i wouldn't have had that beatles pic coz frankly i don't like the beatles lol except the cars but i think that's spelled differently :) most excellent work!!!! 11 Mar 2011 10:18am @Elaine-: ~Yup, that's the place, near enough - I've posted up a few extra views while I have them to hand. (Ronnie) k@ from Paris, France;)) I've been said the real one in some meters behind, i love that, people thinking they are on the real one... but no ;) 11 Mar 2011 10:43am @k@: Yes, you are right that the crossing was moved a few meters years back but it's close, close enough ! I'll post up some other shots from the visit. Thanks, Karine ! (Ronnie) k@ from Paris, FranceI've read the real one is some meters from this one they repainted. 11 Mar 2011 11:50am @k@: Yes, you are right - seems I got there 28 years late !! Thanks, k@. Curly from South Shields, United KingdomGreat concept Ronnie, and well put together too! 11 Mar 2011 12:18pm Rosa Frei - Photo Emotions from Ouarzazate, MoroccoYou are a great story teller, it's so much more than just showing pictures.... 11 Mar 2011 12:23pm Adela Fonts from Barcelona, SpainI love this picture of my idols ... Those were the days. Good dialogue with your friend ... as always! Thanks you very much... I remember. A hug, Adela 11 Mar 2011 12:29pm MARIANA from Waterloo, Canadathat is wonderful creation ;) Love it . Love Beatles ;) 11 Mar 2011 12:50pm Franz from Baden, Austriaperfect! one of the cleverest collages i've ever seen! (but i may be biased as a first-day beatles fan!) 11 Mar 2011 1:22pm Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandLove the way you've blended Lilly's hand and picture into the actual place, but in a different season! Great job! 11 Mar 2011 2:08pm @Monique: Thanks, Monique. Yes, apparently, the album artwork photograph was taken on 8 August 1969 with the trees in full leaf ! (Ronnie) Marleen from Doesburg, NetherlandsGreat combination of the real landmark and the LP cover, which of course is still in every cupboard..... 11 Mar 2011 2:35pm @Marleen: Yes, the background is for real and there are some other shots I took on that day here. Thanks, Marleen. (Ronnie) Rick from Toronto, CanadaMy favourite band ever, and the reason I became a musician. Therefore, how not to be completely wowed by this clever shot? Yeah, I'm wowed and you just made my day! Cheers; I only wish my morning coffee didn't taste like something cultivated from an octopus's garden. :) 11 Mar 2011 3:15pm @Rick: Great, Rick ! Hope you saw the plain shots of Abbey Road I linked back to and there is a live webcam - sometimes ! (Ronnie) Dana from Burbank, United StatesExcellent. Cramming three segments into one shot. The Beatles' Abbey Road jacket, a blurry Abbey Road and the news clip about the shifting landmark site. Love this. Love the discussion. And of course the moral: The cabbie knows. 11 Mar 2011 3:18pm @Dana: Thanks, Dana - have a great weekend ! (L&R) Don from Spokane, United StatesThe two shots tie together so well. Excellent post. 11 Mar 2011 3:38pm Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesA very cool one today! This is excellent and makes me smile. 11 Mar 2011 3:39pm B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United StatesWow, that's like almost sacred ground to many folks. Creatively done! 11 Mar 2011 4:04pm @B. Thomas: Yes, there were folks arriving all the time I was there . . many way too young to have been around in 1969 but clearly devoted followers nonetheless. Strange feeling. (Ronnie) @António Pires: Yes - as k@ pointed out, it was moved along a few meters years ago for highway reasons but the spirit moved with it ! (Ronnie) Tede from Aubenas 07, FranceGreat this composition, splendid job, I like. Good day. 11 Mar 2011 5:10pm karla from Omaha, United StatesDelightful!!! Made me smile right away. Good composite work here! And thanks for the extra views. 11 Mar 2011 5:28pm Michael from Chester, United KingdomMemories come flooding back from that iconic shot. As a pre-teen I remember seeing them film 'Help' in..... ermm where was it now? oh yes, I was in Lime Street so it must be Liverpool. A very cool picture Ronnie. 11 Mar 2011 7:57pm @Michael: Curious how so many of us relate to this little bit of music history. Although I live in London and have driven this road many a time, this is the first time I have photographed the location and, indeed, walked that crossing ! (Ronnie) brine from entre Paris et Valence, FranceThat's why, even after a certain absence, I always return on Aminus: to find photos so beautiful as cunning! And the text which accompanies it is always so funny... Then, also let us ask the taxi driver where is " lucy in the sky with diamonds ", lol... Bravo to you two! 11 Mar 2011 8:32pm @brine: Hello, Brine - nice to see you around again ! Welcome back. @jhcibils: I was there ! (Ronnie) Veronique from Sarrouilles, Franceso pleased to see that ! They are 'toute ma jeunesse" !!!!!!! 11 Mar 2011 10:03pm @Veronique: Oui, une grande signification pour autant! (Ronnie) @Iris: Thanks, Iris - it was lovely to work on and turned out just as we'd hoped, really ! (Ronnie) Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesExcellent job of incorporating and blending these three images together! Great DoF as well on the residences in the background. 12 Mar 2011 4:28am @Steven: Thanks, Steven. We did budget for three images (one reason why you see the additional page posted) but I actually shot the newspaper in situ so there are only two in this composition. (Ronnie) Vincentt from Batam, IndonesiaThe pictures are perfectly blended together. Love it. 12 Mar 2011 5:01am @Vincentt: Thanks, Vincent - we enjoyed this one ourselves, too ! (Lilly and Ronnie) kerfendal from Paris, Francevery interesting and you have the newspaper, this, give a very original composition 12 Mar 2011 6:20am @kerfendal: Yes, it was the newspaper that got us started on this. The rest was, as they say, history ! Enjoy the weekend, Kerfendal. (Ronnie) DULCIE from Danville, CA, United StatesJust brilliant....One of my very favorites !! 12 Mar 2011 8:35am @DULCIE: Thanx, Dulci - we enjoyed this one ourselves because there was so much 'involvement' ! Have a pleasant Sunday. (L&R) jpla from St Barthélémy d, FranceJolie composition ! Je te souhaite une agréable journée 12 Mar 2011 8:56am JCJ from Troyes, Francethat's BIG! just a technical question, did you have the disc or is it added ? congrats for this huge shot:) 12 Mar 2011 10:13am @JCJ: We each have the original vinyl disc of 1969, yes, but that is the sleeve of Lilly's copy (and her hand) added into the London location image here. (Ronnie) Christine from Duns, United KingdomYou have certainly brought back loads of memories for many of us :) 12 Mar 2011 11:46am @Christine: Yes, is a strange feeling being there and talking with others from all across the world standing in that spot with much the same thoughts - even though many were not even born back then in 1969 ! (Ronnie) Claudia - Mariposa de humo from D.F., MexicoWooow! I love the three views: the LP, the newspaper article and the street. 12 Mar 2011 6:45pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesWell, you never give me your money, but still, your going to carry that weight a long time. Still - there is just - something - about this image... 12 Mar 2011 8:21pm @Stephen Phillips: lol . . yes, there was me trying to Act Naturally - I Should Have Known Better ! (Shameful Ronnie) Gilles from Entre Bussy et Bruxelles, FranceYou missed them ;) Another great proof of your creativity 12 Mar 2011 8:37pm Mike Baker from los angeles, United StatesHaha, an excellent production with the iconic picture. Thanks for the link with the regular shots of Abbey Road, it must be quite the tourist mecca. 12 Mar 2011 9:54pm @Mike Baker: Thanks, Mike . . yes, it was surprisingly busy for mid-week when I was there and all very good-natured - seemed odd that most visitors were far too young to remember 1969 ! Enjoy the weekend. ✿ Anina ✿ from Auckland, New ZealandOh wow! This is one terrific image - very well done! I love how you did this one. 12 Mar 2011 11:11pm John Maslowski from Dallas, PA, United StatesAppears little has changed on this road. The photo sure brings back memories, has to be 40 or more years ago. Excellent arrangement and creation as always. 13 Mar 2011 1:12am @John Maslowski: Yes, the album artwork was shot 42 years ago . . frightening thought ! (Ronnie) Bettina from Los Angeles, United StatesSo great on many levels. Your two hands, the road itself, the Beatles time warp, all of it! 13 Mar 2011 2:02am @Bettina: Thanks, Bettina - happy we are able to share this. (L&R) Susan from Sausalito, United StatesBrilliant...I almost thought it was real when I first saw it. 13 Mar 2011 3:54am @Susan: Smiles . . well, it is 50% real ! Thank you, Susan. Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United StatesCoincidentally, I was listening to my Beatles song collection on my ipod all day today - and then I got here and found your great post. This is truly excellent work on a variety of different levels of complexity and simplicity. 5 stars! 13 Mar 2011 4:02am @Viewfinder: Thanks Glenn. Lilly and I were talking about music collections and "Abbey Road" simply dropped into the conversation. The rest, as they say. is history ! Enjoy Sunday. (Ronnie) flyingwind风飞扬 from Bridgetown, BarbadosVery interesting compo and idea! Imaginative! 13 Mar 2011 4:40am hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongOh R&L, this is creative, refreshing, and evoking memories... the conversations, as always, are full of satiric humour... and I've been contemplating your pic with pleasurable amusement! Yet, please forgive me if I'm being dumb, cause I still can't figure out where this "Abbey Road" actually is. Well, I did try but found at least 4 "Abbey Roads" on Google Maps.:-) Have a lovely Sunday my friends! 13 Mar 2011 5:23am Richard from Duns, United KingdomFabulous take, great POV. A place of pilgrimage. 13 Mar 2011 7:59am Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainGreat compo and better idea: thanks for the link :) 13 Mar 2011 8:23am © Jean-Bernard Reynier from Lyon, FranceGreat idea here ! 13 Mar 2011 9:07am Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, France"Abbey road"... all my youth... a record connected to so much memories !! 13 Mar 2011 9:58am Amanda from Jersey City, United StatesAs a Beatles fan, I am grinning ear to ear on this image! How fun and hysterical that this cross walk will be a place that people travel to see. And to hear that the original was a bit further back is also a fun piece of history. Did you walk across barefoot? ;-) 13 Mar 2011 7:03pm @Amanda: ha ha . . barefoot ? Now, you know there was only one chance in Four of that ! (Ronnie) akarui from Kagoshima, JapanReally good collage. Interesting to see the same street with many years difference. The hands gives a lot of power to the image. 14 Mar 2011 12:36am @akarui: Thank you, Olivier. Fully understood on the pause . . . terrible times. (L&R) kitty from Seoul, South KoreaReally nice layering here, working so well together ^^ 14 Mar 2011 9:15am Anne from a little red dot, SingaporeI like the good mix in this image, the past and the present...and you guys are never short of amazing ideas, well done, superb again! 14 Mar 2011 9:49am @Anne: Like many of our ideas, this just 'arrived' unexpectedly. The trip and the photography was done within an hour or so but assembling it to look 'right' was another matter ! Thanks, Anne and have a good week. (Lilly and Ronnie) Sam from Chennai, IndiaWonderful merging of images and lovely concept. Excellent, Ronnie :) 14 Mar 2011 10:42am @Sam: Thanx, Sam - have a great week ! (Ronnie) Daniel from Kenmare, United StatesHere's your big chance to join the Beatles immortality. 14 Mar 2011 12:51pm Stephen from Canberra, AustraliaFantastic 3D effect and depth of field! Perfect compositon and great story on this one! 14 Mar 2011 2:49pm Goddess from Tehran, Iran:))))))))))) Bravoooo I like this very much 14 Mar 2011 3:23pm ¨‘°ºO Dutçh Oº°‘¨ from Neverwhere, United StatesVery cool combining something from pop culture with present day geography, like connecting past and present.. and you guys could probably sell this one to Beatle's fans. 14 Mar 2011 8:01pm Allan Clark from Dunedin, New Zealandyou need to put you shot in to a book. man this stuff is so funny and so cool 15 Mar 2011 4:38am Vaido from Võrumaa, EstoniaThat's a really great composition! I took time probably to sort these details out :) 15 Mar 2011 9:08am dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaI can't describe the enormity of nostalgia this image evokes in me. This was one of my favourite Beatles albums, and I believe the last to be recorded by them. "Here comes the sun" was the one that stood out for me most, but overall it was a brilliant collection. 15 Mar 2011 6:55pm @dobbino: Well, 'Let it Be' was released the following year, 1970, but "most of Let It Be was recorded in January 1969, before the recording and release of the album Abbey Road. For this reason some critics and fans argue that Abbey Road should be considered the group's final album and Let It Be the penultimate" (Wiki) @MadScientist: ha ha . . I was about to answer "Like a Rolling Stone " ! But, seriously, it was a strange place to be on a weekday afternoon because there was nothing much to see other than folks of all ages standing around seeing there is not much to see and walking in strange steps over The Crossing risking death in the traffic . . but, yes, there is a presence there.
