"Our business is rubbish" - how dare they steal the advertising slogan of Northern Rock Bank?
4 Apr 2011 5:26am
I beg to differ with Chris... how can those banks be rubbish, when they are doing so well on our money !
4 Apr 2011 6:03am
@Michael: Yeah . . funny I don't much get a feeling of pride in ownership, Mike ! (Ronnie)
i took a picture of a dumpster once and i got nuthin' but heck for it lol like i offended people by making them look at such things lol so i agree that they should be prettier :)

Oh Albion, Oh jewel, Oh sceptred Isle,
I've Bin everywhere man
I've Bin Liner
What could be finer
I wheelie have bin you know
Where does this garbage come from? :)
4 Apr 2011 8:57am
@grouser: Mine was in Assisi, Italy!! (Lilly) No wonder I got no reply when I dialed Palm Beach ! (Ronine)
:-) I sometimes forget that you are combining two images, you do it so seamlessly.
4 Apr 2011 9:18am
@Anita: . . the thought went thru my own mind working on this one, Anita ! (Ronnie)
Super clever thoughts, actually a golden one sure would not be that "attractive", unless you have jewels to throw at the garbage ;))
4 Apr 2011 9:22am
Business is Rubbish. Nice tile and great images. Like it. :)
4 Apr 2011 10:02am
It's a matter of coherence, their business is rubbish and they show it.
4 Apr 2011 10:39am
However I think that if they were wearing colors, they will be probably more attractive for people. And more aesthetic too. It's quite important, no ?
4 Apr 2011 12:10pm
On the question of garbage I meant my writing Lilly. However Assisi, that's exotic :)
4 Apr 2011 12:54pm
The Great Albion is in the rubbish business....what a shock! And I did study its proud history so hard....
4 Apr 2011 1:05pm
Lovely, and a nice exchange between you two. It occurs to me that the slogan could be used by a massage parlour as well. It also reminded me of a delightful company name I once espied on the side of a truck. It was an iron-work contractor named Mammoth Erections. (yeah, I took a photo of the logo, and it was an elephant... pure innocence)
4 Apr 2011 1:47pm
A great composition with an almost modern art-look to these bins! We don't need dumpsters to be more attractive - we already have graffiti to beautify laneways!
4 Apr 2011 2:02pm
A truly great thought process. Wisdom in word and picture!
4 Apr 2011 2:42pm
Sarcastic comments and good feedback from Lilli! Always in good humor friend ... Very sharp dialog! Best regards, Adela
4 Apr 2011 4:40pm
Every day the business is bigger ... every day we generate more rubbish.
4 Apr 2011 5:11pm
Whaha, you spot some rubbish boxes, call Lilly and Ronnie and then 'humour has it'* :-)))))))
(* next songtitle for Adele?:-DD)
4 Apr 2011 5:20pm
I must admit that I like them both, but where did you find those two !!!
I'm pretty sure you did the little graffiti on the grey one and painted the other one in pink then written the catchline yourself.
Amazing work once again ;))
4 Apr 2011 6:54pm
@DowsherVision: ha ha . . no, the colors and catch-line are 100% genuine ! I did remove some of the graffiti from Lilly's Italian dumpster in case it offended. (Ronnie)
I agree with Lily. Or at least make them blend with their surroundings. We require dumpsters to be screened by fencing if seen from a public right-of-way, which in my opinion calls more attention to the dumpster than without the fencing.

His and her trash totes, with gray Mars v. pink Albi(a)n, from across the seas. Very poetic (and huge props to grouser, for his doggerel on Bin there, done that). Marvelous.
5 Apr 2011 3:07am
@Dana: 'trash totes' ! - love it. Lilly pictured this one in Italy so it might be a" cassonetto", I suppose. (Ronnie)
ha! Good idea, me thinks, to make them more fun!
5 Apr 2011 4:39am
Hahaha..great shot, very well seen! Finally someone tells the truth about his business :D
5 Apr 2011 5:23am
Lily has the last word. And a good one !!! Great pairing !! :-)
5 Apr 2011 6:01am
@DULCIE: Thanks, Dulcie !
metal or plastic bins... I think plastic is winning, so to speak. "Rubbish" sounds lovelier than our (USA) gutteral "garbage".
5 Apr 2011 6:02am
@dulang: Yes, agree with you on the sound of 'rubbish' . . some folks here call the dumpsters 'skips' which is not right when they have lids and dumpster sounds better, anyhows ! (Ronnie)
I wonder how much they paid consultants for that slogan!
5 Apr 2011 6:49am
Belle interprétation ! Je te souhaite une agréable journée
JP
5 Apr 2011 7:04am
Hahaha.... well spotted ! Excellent ! Have a nice day :)
5 Apr 2011 7:25am
@M@ndy: Amazing, huh ?!! (Ronnie-on-the-street)
The comments are as entertaining as the photo!
5 Apr 2011 9:58am
ha ha - very good. Like the graffitti on the other bin. Trying to work out whether its a subliminal message or not!
5 Apr 2011 10:31am
@Philip: smiles . . it was in Italy, so remember to translate ! (Ronnie)
LOL...all the things rubbish can bring....but I would dump it,even if it was a golden one.
5 Apr 2011 1:42pm
Well at least they admit it with their "business is rubbish" slogan.
The other one must mean, Smile (in Italian) when you put your rubbish in.
You two even make trash entertaining. Great work!
5 Apr 2011 3:41pm
@Barbara: Thanks, Barbara - regards to Bufo ! (Ronnie)
Rubbish should be left at their rightful places...very interesting composition, good job !
5 Apr 2011 4:09pm
Great shot, love the graffiti on the gray dumpster!
5 Apr 2011 4:16pm
Oh, I don't know about the "too pretty" part. Aren't the graffiti artists just trying to beautify the bins so they are useable?
5 Apr 2011 5:42pm
ha, ha! Big smiles with such a clever association between pic and dialogue closed by Lilly, as usual, in a brilliant way...
5 Apr 2011 5:46pm
@CAAZ: Yeah, that Lilly has a sharp tongue ! (Ronnie)
@Allan Clark: Thanks for your support, Allan ! (L&R)
@Jean-Louis: Merci ! (Ronnie)
What funny find and juxtaposition!!! And you've proven so well that even rubbish will have its value... someone's rubbish can be another's treasure!:-) My salute to you for looking so "intensely" into these things!
6 Apr 2011 3:17pm
I think dumpsters should look just like this - dirty and battered. I personally enjoy looking at dirty, battered objects. In some towns in California the dumpsters are colorfully painted by artists, invited or otherwise. But they soon get dirty again.
7 Apr 2011 2:54am
Very attractive shot for all that rubbish. I like the hieroglyphically decorated one on the left. At least there's a smile on the bin. Expertly combined shots!
7 Apr 2011 3:28am
I'm even more surprised by the name of that company!
10 Apr 2011 6:26pm
For some reason I hear that slogan in the voice of Bill Nighy.
