Great Seal of England (detail)Posted by OurTwoSense (Atlantic Shores, United States) on 12 April 2011 in Art & Design. : This face depicts the House of Commons in Session with Oliver Cromwell and the reverse shows a map of England and Ireland. It was engraved by Thomas Simon and took him about a year to complete. The seal is 5.5 inches in diameter, and was so highly crafted that the name of each county can be read on the map.
