Lilly : There are some places that really make you feel unwanted.
Ronnie : Oh, I just go along with the restrictions, Lilly - never make no fuss.
Lilly : But that's because you have no dog, carry nothing with you, are tone deaf, allergic to drink, cannot ride a bike, too mean to feed a pigeon, certainly don't skateboard, slip even without roller blades and know no ball games. That park is made for you, Ronnie.

This sign makes sense.. due to irritable and grouchy people visiting the parks previously, and channeling their irritability and grouchiness into the pigeons and squirrels, this made the pigeons and squirrels violent, so now calm and content people can not feed them due to the fear of being attacked.. :(

I have never seen a "No Skateboarding" symbol before...This sign is incrediblly "complete" in it's lack of tolerance...although, if it were to include a "Do Not throw your crappy Cigarette butts on my Lawn - it is NOT your Personal Ashtray" I would purchase one...As you can see, i was picking up the trash in my corner lawn today - Thank God it is a small plot...but I digress....Ronnie are you there? @Denny Jump Photo: As I've just Responded to Thierry in a poor version of his beautiful language, it is quite usual to see such bans in a London park these days - the only odd restriction relates to the feeding of squirrels. And, yes, the banning of smoking in all buildings open to the public has meant more smoking in the streets and gardens . . but 'they' are working on that, I do believe. (Ronnie)

At least there is not a "no cameras/photography" sign, but then - if we can't shoot people skating, playing, listening, drinking, or feeding, then what is left to photograph? Oh, now I see - dogs pooping. That's enough to make me grouchy, irritable, and just plain mean. My check is in the mail.

@Lena: Thanks, Lena - I had a look at the on-line Laws : Interesting excerpts from the Byelaws : A person shall not bring into the Park any cattle, sheep, goats,or pigs or hawks, falcons or gaming birds. A person shall not bathe, wade or wash in any ornamental lake, pond, stream or other water. A person shall not race or train any whippet or dog. A person shall not sort rags, bones, refuse, or matter of like nature nor . . beat, shake, sweep, brush, or cleanse any carpet, drugget, rug or mat, or any other fabric retaining dust or dirt; A person in a verminous or offensively filthy condition shall not lie about or lie upon or occupy any seat in the open space. A person shall not fire or discharge any firearm or discharge any missile or squirt or spray or otherwise throw or scatter any offensive liquid, powder or substance. Any person so offending shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding five hundred pounds (£500 / $800)

Very skillful work and very much true to life. This brings to mind a cartoon of a dog standing upright on roller skates with an ice cream in its front paws, looking at a mall sign prohibiting dogs, roller skates and ice cream. There are days when we all feel that way......but this park sounds more like a Victorian school yard than a public park. However, nowadays with the 'behaviour police' on every street corner - shouldn't be surprised.

@Akaruiphoto: Well, as Lilly rightly says, these Restrictions do not adversely affect me so I am happy to comply but, yes, we do live in a tightly-controlled world here. My own conflict with authority is, of course, carrying a camera which can be seen to be suspicious behavior under our Anti-Terrorism Laws. I have to carry proof of ID and copies of earlier 'search' reports to explain myself in certain areas. Happens. (Fugitive Ronnie)
