k@ from Paris, FranceYou are doing a social documentary here, in addition with your great humor, you always SAY right & deep things and that's why we enjoy it so much - yup, those are our times, Big Brotha watcha ! 28 May 2012 5:26am @k@: Good morning and thank you, Karine ! This was the first time I'd seen one of these 'Google Trikes' ! It was tough-pedaling on a hot day. (Ronnie) Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandI thought they only used cars! Wonder what they will use over here ... probably an elephant :) Loved Lilly's comment, really naif thinking that people have blurred faces :) 28 May 2012 5:45am @Monique: 'Elephants' !! I can see it now ! (Ronnie) Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United KingdomAnd disguising themselves as children with blurred faces is just too much ! 28 May 2012 6:07am @Doug: A cunning plan . . . gerard1948 from SpainTwo beautiful interesting pictures, principally cycling google. 28 May 2012 7:18am Stephen from Canberra, AustraliaYikes its trikes! Google discovers 'The Power of Three' - they must have been monitoring Am3 to pick up our next theme! 28 May 2012 7:19am @Stephen: The Google Eyes are upon us . . (Ronnie) Curly from South Shields, United KingdomGreat, if I see one of these in the street I know I'll have time to switch the wi-fi off! 28 May 2012 8:43am @Curly: Is that Mr Curly ? Account No. 5668901 sort code 45-77-91 PIN 0010 ? No cause for concern, sir. Thank you for your payment. (Cashier Ronnie) jpla from St Barthélémy d, FranceGoogle earth nous surveille ! Je te souhaite une agréable journée JP 28 May 2012 8:56am @jpla: Leurs yeux sont sur nous ! Have a great week, JP. (Ronnie) CElliottUK from Reading, United KingdomAs one bloke said to another when he farted in a lift "That is so wrong on so many different levels" So now we will have streetview on beaches, parks, wild-life reserves.....? 28 May 2012 9:02am @CElliottUK: Google reserves all Rights. (Stockholder Ronnie) @grouser: You can be sure they have seen you, Mr. Grouser - and logged that P7000. (Ronnie) @❀ Yvonne Simons ❀: I told him I'd blur out his face if he blurred out mine but he said I was fine as I was. (Ronnie Pondering) Ellebelle from Medemblik, NetherlandsNo more privacy ............. nowhere!!! 28 May 2012 9:36am @Ellebelle: It's tough work, Ellebelle - trikes are hard going even without all that heavy gear and a generator stowed in the back ! (Ronnie) Jules from Drayton, United KingdomJust who has the job of blurring the faces? - personally I preferred Streetview before Google stole our identities away, I'm not sure what legislation made them act but are we expected to blur the faces in the photos we take and publish on sites like AM3 if we have not gained permission? 28 May 2012 10:21am @Jules: Google started using the technology to do this back in 2008 but it still misses a few faces and can blur images on billboards and signs. As to your question, the answer is probably an uncomfortable 'yes' much the same as I have, myself, been stopped by police under Section 43 (1) for photographing streets and buildings in the UK. Common sense normally prevails but I am cautious about including strangers in shots and, if I'd just dome something stupid or illegal or even just stepped out my house (all those are possible!), I guess I'd not want to appear on YouTube or AM3 or elsewhere ! (Ronnie) Julie L. Brown from Indianapolis, Indiana, United StatesI have never seen this. Are these trike guys only in the UK? It does make sense, once you think about it. How else would Google get those street level views? Maybe I should I be suspicious of all children on trikes here. I wonder if one of these Google trikes caught Arlo getting into that trunk before the car caught fire? :) 28 May 2012 10:59am @Julie L. Brown: The Google Tike has been around for a few years, now - read about it here and see the 'In Action' link under our narrative. (Ronnie) Julie L. Brown from Indianapolis, Indiana, United StatesI checked out the link. Thanks! 28 May 2012 12:00pm @Julie L. Brown: Yes, I learned from it myself ! (R) bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThey're everywhere, coming in all shapes and sizes and modes of transportation :) 28 May 2012 12:59pm @bluechameleon: As you can imagine, some of out 'ideas in action' have been known to draw a crowd ! (Ronnie) Tede from Aubenas 07, FranceA "camera" on a tricycle :) Too funny! This is a radar for speeding bike ... Good day. 28 May 2012 1:19pm Jules from Drayton, United KingdomCont... As there are no UK laws that specifically prevent photography in a "public" place (private property that public have access to is different), I assume therefore that you were stopped under section 43(1) of the Terrorism Act 2000. Is there any real logic in the assumption that a photographer is a terrorist? - especially when the lovely people at Google have provided us with detailed maps & photography of the most "sensitive" places for free, enabling any prospective terrorist to plot his/her act in the safety of their home. Still baffled also by the need to blur faces - if you have "just done something stupid or illegal" we the public have a right to know! (after all you published a photo of what appeared to show Arlo sneaking away from a possible crime scene!!!) 28 May 2012 1:22pm @Jules: Yes, you are right - they spotted me as a terrorist . . . but still called me 'sir'. (Ronnie) Heinz from Hamm, GermanyOb das alles so richtig ist was Google da macht. Ich hatte auch erst an eine mobile Blitzanlage gedacht. 28 May 2012 1:58pm @Heinz: Dies Krieg Google - Google dinge sicher! (Ronnie) Elaine Hancock from Rockville, United StatesI have never seen one of these trikes before. I will have to be on the lookout! Very funny! 28 May 2012 2:08pm @Elaine Hancock: Yes, this was the first one I've seen in action - pedaling looked hard work ! (Ronnie) hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongWhat a great find and most humorous presentation!!! Thanks too for the link... Must admit haven't seen (expected) this before - I'd been thinking that they're doing their shooting in a more inconspicious manner!:-) 28 May 2012 2:27pm Dokmateo from Madrid, SpainHahaha! Where do find these photos....great shots and composition! Two thumbs up! 28 May 2012 2:31pm @Dokmateo: . . I just turned a corner and there he was ! (Ronnie) Slackwater - Don from Spokane, United StatesWith video cameras everywhere, one must assume you're being watched wherever you are. If I wanted to ride across someone's lawn, I'd think about doing it at night. Nice two action shots with blurred faces! 28 May 2012 2:31pm Riccardo from Rome, ItalyI hope that They won't photograph me while I have my fingers in my nose! 28 May 2012 3:11pm Veronique from France, Switzerland:-)) very good ! this could be an awkward situation depending if we are pictured in a place where we normally shouldn't be...... 28 May 2012 3:43pm @Veronique: I told you y'd get found out, Veronique . . was bound to happen ! (Ronnie) Benkirane Thami from Fès, MoroccoEfficace pour filmer en temps réel le cerveau de l'homme qui pédale au quotidien dans la choucroute... 28 May 2012 3:48pm Nicou from Sion, SwitzerlandGénaiel compo et iamge superbe double vue quelle imagination et compo. 28 May 2012 4:20pm Melocoton from Salamanca, SpainOh Ronnie, you're fantastic, pure British humor, great, bravo 28 May 2012 4:26pm @Melocoton: That bad, huh ?! Smiles . . (Ronnie) B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United StatesWell shoot! I thought it was the popsicle cart and the kids were trying to chase him down. 28 May 2012 4:27pm @B. Thomas: When I first saw the guy, I thought 'ice-cream', too !! (Ronnie-feeling-the-heat) Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United StatesYou have given a whole new meaning to googly eyes... 28 May 2012 4:45pm franz from Baden, Austriaha, those 'googlers' know no respect ... but i love to make use of their street views (despite the blurred faces ...)! 28 May 2012 6:13pm @franz: Yeah, agree - it's a great tool to use. (Ronnie) @yz: Strange set-up eh ? . . I was fascinated by it all ! (Ronnie) Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, CanadaMust say I have never seen a Google trike! I see by the map he has in hand that he is thouroughly lost! Nicely captured Ronnie! ;-)) 28 May 2012 7:01pm @Eric Cousineau: ha ha . . yes, he had a printed map of where he was supposed to be as well as a GPS display on the handlebars. To be fair to him, he was not lost ! (Ronnie) Rick from Toronto, CanadaAn important blend of guffaws and social commentary, not to mention this little known affliction of "stealth face" that seems to be showing up 'round the world! 28 May 2012 7:13pm Hanry from Castricum, NetherlandsOh dear, if they do not accidentally shoot me, I'm not as photogenic ....... . Not the easiest way to bicycle around the world! 28 May 2012 7:48pm @Hanry: That trike did look heavy going, I tell you ! (Ronnie) Alun from cheshire, United KingdomNice, one, I love street view, it's so very helpful if you going somewhere you haven't been before, you can just have a look see what it looks like. I wish they could go further. They could have it that if your outside a cafe you could click on it and go inside to see images of inside band there could be lots of info in there for you. 28 May 2012 10:20pm @Alun: 'watch this space' as they say !! (Ronnie) @Sue-Ann: Thanks, Sue-Ann - this was all quite unplanned by us - just 'happened ' ! (Lilly and Ronnie) Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesAn interesting commentary on life in this digital age. Whatever happened to the idea of privacy, I wonder. 29 May 2012 6:09am Michael Fresh from Chester, United KingdomGoogle you say.... ? and here's me thinking it was Nikon's new 3D movie camera :0 29 May 2012 6:30am @Michael Fresh: Nah . . never fit that on just three wheels, Mike ! (Ronnie) NicoleA from Aix en Provence, Franceexcellent idea ! May be one day we'll be able to see you Ronnie and Lily i 29 May 2012 11:15am @NicoleA: I assure you we both have blurred faces and mine is natural ! (Ronnie) Sterre from Utrecht, NetherlandsNo more place for your self, Google is all over the world. 29 May 2012 11:29am Adela Fonts from Barcelona, SpainYour mood is accompanied by a picture with faces that do not compromise. Acute intuition ... What envy ... Are unique to Aminus3... A hug, Adela 29 May 2012 12:17pm @Adela Fonts: Thank you, Adela . . we are so happy to have all these friends here. (L&R) Tamara from Aarschot, BelgiumHahaha.... Google rules the world ! I knew it has to happen ! have a lovely day :) 29 May 2012 12:46pm B.Sully from Surf City, United StatesI've never even heard of google trikes! Too funny. They really are extending their reach across the world!! 29 May 2012 1:11pm Maggy from Liège, BelgiumJ'aime beaucoup tes photos elles sont inattendues et racontent toujours une histoire surprenante. Thanks, Maggy - by working as a team, we try to make a little story out of the two images and, often, it comes as much as a surprise to us as it does to those who see the posting ! (Lilly and Ronnie) Bron from Canberra, AustraliaVery interesting Ronnie - I had no idea that this was how Google did its thing! Nice find/s! 29 May 2012 3:37pm @Bron: It surprised me, too, Bron, but it seems they have been using these trikes for years to map areas not accessible by car. (Ronnie) El pare from Prepirineu, AndorraI have an unicycle... but I don't know where install the camera 29 May 2012 5:34pm @El pare: um . . being a unicyclist, you must have perfect balance - a suction cup on your helmet should provide the ideal platform and the generator can be strapped to your back ! (Ronnie) Manuel Hompanera from La Robla, SpainRealmente interesante, nunca vi nada parecido.Saludos. 29 May 2012 7:57pm @Manuel Hompanera: ¡Gracias! (Ronnie) RBL from Oxford, United StatesThat's hillarious ... bringing to life what we always wonder about google maps. My husband uses the little man all the time to view places we will be attending... it's amazing what google actually captures and puts on the map. Great one! 29 May 2012 8:50pm @RBL: Yes, we use it a lot, too, although we do sometimes find a location has changed a lot since the StreetView was run ! (L&R) @Tara: 'o-o' @john4jack: Agree with you - it looked very hard work to 'ride' hafta say ! (Ronnie) Chris Pereira from San Francisco, California, United Statesso is the back of the guy's head in every shot? love the juxtaposition of the two photos, especially how you blurred his face à la google. 30 May 2012 7:00am @Chris Pereira: ha ha . . nice one ! I bet his contract says 'no hat' ! (Ronnie) Thea from Leeuwarden, NetherlandsLOL..great link and great shot ! 30 May 2012 11:11am @Thea: Must say I learned a lot from this myself - makes me wonder what else I don't know about ! (Ronnie) Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, FL, United StatesWhat an eye-opener this is ... perhaps it's an advantage that living in a gated community, these trikes have not been seen. 30 May 2012 3:42pm @Judy aka L@dybug: Yes, I have 173 other residents inside my 'gates' and many are suspicious even of the mailman ! (Ronnie) DULCIE from Danville, CA, United StatesOh my, I had no idea that this was how it was they gathered their information. This makes for a lot of humor as well as controversy. Have to say, I don't fear being photographed, don't have anything to hide, and I DO like being able to get the the 'skyview' information sometimes. :-) 31 May 2012 3:08am @DULCIE: Well, I remember I had the cap and shades on (and a full set of clothes!) at the time so I felt rather brave about it all ! Will be interesting to see what 'it' saw ! (Ronnie) Craig from Perth, AustraliaAmazing what people will do. Maybe this is the competitor map company doing the alleyways, or Google sub-contractor ! 31 May 2012 1:51pm @Craig: Well., the guy said he was there for Google and had the Google Maps legend on the cart. (Ronnie) Photographs by M.E. from San Francisco, United Stateshahaha! controversial and updated! well played you 2! 1 Jun 2012 5:03am Gilles from Entre Bussy et Bruxelles, FranceI didn't know google eye is going thru the park too 2 Jun 2012 7:46pm Christine from Ellemford, United KingdomMmmmm, I would like to see him pedal that thing in these hills :)) 2 Jun 2012 8:41pm ☺ ► ƸɼiϾ ◄ ☼ from Narbonne, Franceand you got him very well, you ve got the best prank ;-)) 10 Jun 2012 4:37am Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanBut...almost all of us live in a kind of blurr nowadays!?! so... what's the trouble, one eye more or less.../ 11 Jun 2012 9:35am @Magda: Yes, and I am out there in person on StreetView, now !
