António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalI guess the software you use to make these pictures are not of the 18th Century. Well, just a feeling. 4 Jun 2012 6:09am @António Pires: True, true. I remember it being delivered by one of these new steam engine things - no horse and cart for with-it me, António ! (Modern Ronnie) ❀ Yvonne Simons ❀ from Tilburg, NetherlandsLilly, I love your new shoes and Ronnie, please go buy new ones! :-) 4 Jun 2012 6:20am @❀ Yvonne Simons ❀: I would go out if it were not raining - would hate to get my shoes spoiled. (Ronnie) @Christine: Christine, if I bounced in these shoes, I'd come down without them ! (Ronnie-down-to-earth) @k@: The Custodian at the Hall was convinced I'd never get the foot back on the statue, Karine - made quite a fuss about it. He was right, though. (Ronnie) Veronique from France, Switzerlandwow ! so clever ! did you put your shoe on the statue or is it a PS processing ? I once knew a guy who visited Japan on the rainy season with a big hole in his sole. Too mean to buy some new shoes, he protected his foot with a plastic bag ! 4 Jun 2012 6:56am @Veronique: ha ha . . oh, yes, I've been out in plastic bag 'overshoes' myself - how else could I make a pair of cheap shoes last this long ?! (Miser Ronnie) Veronique from France, Switzerland:-)) I found a picture of it in my archives lol ! 4 Jun 2012 6:59am @Veronique: lol . . I love the happy feeling of finding stuff from way back - well done !! (R) Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandMy husband had those too in the 20th century :) They look great on the statue, much more class than the pink Nikes although they look more comfortable, despite the color :) 4 Jun 2012 7:31am @Monique: I knew my shoes would get at least one vote ! I'm from the 20th Century, too, Monique . . we 20th's need stick together ! (Ronnie) Riccardo from Rome, ItalyAHahah I had one pair of those shoes.. When I was a kid, obviously!! 4 Jun 2012 7:39am @Riccardo: Yup, I plan to replace these when I grow up, too, Riccardo ! (Ronnie) [ could be in for a long wait, I reckon ( from Lilly ) ] Tede from Aubenas 07, FranceOh! (from Lilly) Martine from bousval, Belgiumhahahaha j'adore+++++ ta composition!!!! bravo à toi!!! 4 Jun 2012 8:44am Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United KingdomRonnie, I'm glad to see you subscribe to the concept of never throwing good comfortable shoes away, and anyway you never know when they'll be fashionable again ! 4 Jun 2012 8:50am @Doug: Well said, Doug . . . now, where's my tin hat ? (Ronnie) Ellebelle from Medemblik, NetherlandsYour shoes are timeless, Ronnie! 4 Jun 2012 8:54am @Ellebelle: Curiously, what you say is true - I photographed the second shoe on the plinth in order to get the same lighting and it did not need re-sizing ! (Ronnie) yz from Budapest, Hungarybah, those who wear pink shoes shouldn't criticize a fine gentleman's fine choice... 4 Jun 2012 8:56am @yz: We need more brave men like you, Zoltán ! (Ronnie-on-the-run) Mhelene from Paris, FranceA beautiful composition and great work to put a shoe on a statue !! :-) 4 Jun 2012 9:03am grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomThose are shoes with sole Ronnie. Woven leather, no chance of stink-foot there, even if they are a trifle down at heel. 4 Jun 2012 9:17am CElliottUK from Reading, United KingdomBrogues for a rogue, brothel creepers for an ...........lady electrician who has come to fix the red light, incognito. 4 Jun 2012 9:18am @CElliottUK: lol . . that should raise a spark ! Besides being very fashionable, they are VERY comfortable! (from Lilly) Rick from Toronto, CanadaWonderful footwear, both of you for very different (ahem...) reasons. Ronnie, I've got a hot tip for you should you ever visit Toronto. We have the Bata Shoe Museum here and as far as I was able to make out, security is rather lax (ahem...) ... 4 Jun 2012 11:22am @Rick: That's good to know I might be accepted there, Rick. Even if only as an exhibit. (Ronnie) Benkirane Thami from Fès, MoroccoL'idée de droite me plaît quand celle de gauche me semble faire de la publicité gratuite... 4 Jun 2012 11:33am @Benkirane Thami: Mieux que mon parrainé par OXFAM ! (Ronnie) Universe from Tehran, IranAnother great capture.... nice composition & color, very pleasing! 4 Jun 2012 11:44am @Universe: Happy days ! (L&R) Heinz from Hamm, GermanyFür mich fällt die Auswahl nicht schwer, ich bevorzuge die Schuhe auf der rechten Seite. 4 Jun 2012 11:54am Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United StatesI am impressed that the statue was wearing the same shoe as you, Ronnie. It shows your excellent, timeless appreciation for the art of shoe wearing. Now Lilly on the other hand...I know from experience that those shoes start out looking lovely, but soon begin to wear thin in spots and worst of all begin to STINK! Artistically hers are prettier, but yours are long lasting. Another wonderful story that made me smile. Thank you. 4 Jun 2012 11:59am Sterre from Utrecht, NetherlandsLove your shoes Ronny, my husband had them until last month too. 4 Jun 2012 12:19pm @Sterre: I could used his shoes for spare parts . . (Lilly and Ronnie) @El pare: Ah, that's what I like to hear ! (Ronnie) Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesI can only imagine how much of Ronnie's soles are left. He must be using that emery board quite often. :-) 4 Jun 2012 5:31pm Denny Jump Photo from Easton, PA, United StatesAs to the shoe refusing to come off the statue: The rain makes our feet swell, you know! ....That's"swell" not "smell"..the shoes do that for you! (Ronnie Hopeful) ripple from Nottingham, United Kingdomgiggling a lot here. 4 Jun 2012 9:13pm @ripple: A small crowd gathered and a security guy looked flustered while I set up my shot. Can you imagine explaining all this to someone of sane mind ?!! (Ronnie Released) Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesYou know how things come back into fashion after about 40 years. I think these shoes are about to do just that. 4 Jun 2012 9:49pm @Steve Rice: This is good news, Steve . . and I do believe the monthly payments end in June. (Ronnie-on-the-Up) curieuzeneuzemosterdpot from somewhere between viewer and subject, Belgiumwhahaaaa .. the statue no longer stands still; 4 Jun 2012 9:57pm @curieuzeneuzemosterdpot: "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" was recorded in 1966 ! I'm putting a pair of wooden clogs in the post for you, first class, you should have them tomorrow. (watch out for splinters) 4 Jun 2012 10:54pm @Michael Fresh: Shame he didn't get those in time for the Jubilee Flotilla, Mike - he could have walked on the River and waved the AM3 flag ! Perhaps best not. ( from Lilly ) Elaine Hancock from Rockville, United StatesYou might need some Dr. Scholl's insoles! They look a little worn out. Great image and a good laugh! 5 Jun 2012 12:59am @Elaine Hancock: Good advice - I might need an 'out-sole' on the left one, too. (Ronnie) Sue-Ann from Quebec, Canadawomen are all the same... nice treatment for this right picture... 5 Jun 2012 3:14am B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United StatesAh Ronnie, a man of your stature is a shoe-in as an 18th Century fashion icon. Anyone who says you are a heel must be wrong. 5 Jun 2012 3:43am @B. Thomas: I can tell you are a woman of good taste - appreciate class when you smell it ! (Ronnie) Jules from Drayton, United Kingdomshocking pink vs battered loafers - I'm with you Ronnie 5 Jun 2012 7:47am @Jules: Better than shocking loafers and battered pink, huh ? (Ronnie) Chris Pereira from San Francisco, California, United Stateshahahaha! oh my goodness, you two. love the photoshop job on ronnie's half 5 Jun 2012 9:02am @Chris Pereira: It was part in-situ other than fitting the shoe - got some strange looks and radio call for security . . hee hee . . I take it Ronnie is not self-conscious. 6 Jun 2012 12:18pm @Anita: Oh, Ronnie knows how to work a crowd, Anita. And, if the statue had got damaged, he'd have put the finger on some unfortunate in the front row, believe me. ( from Lilly ) Manola from Bassens, Franceyou make me laugh with your crazy ideas. great idea. ;-)) 6 Jun 2012 4:31pm Florence from Paris, FranceOh... I was looking for running shoes as well. Lilly ?
