Lilly : I want to download some music to keep me sane on that long flight, Ronnie.
Ronnie : Good idea . . I was thinking just the same for my trip.
Lilly : What ?? There is no way they will let you on board with that. No way.

Super tape deck! Does it run on batteries? You might give it a try... :-)
25 Oct 2009 11:46am
@MadScientist: ha ha . . lucky you reminded me . . must remember the battery backpack ! (Ronnie)
Very funny! I have a tube-powered Sony tape recorder with detachable speakers that must weight close to 80 pounds. I'd like to see the airline peoples' expression when you attempted to board with this! :-)
25 Oct 2009 1:17pm
Fantastic Ronnie, I would sell my soul for a Beocord...! (Is it your's/does it work Ron) ?
25 Oct 2009 2:41pm
@Michael: Yes, she still works and there is a full B&O system with Beomaster 1000 Tuner/Amp, vinyl deck and speakers in my museum/garage ! How things have changed. (Ronnie)
Great equipment you've got there! Although. yes, not too travel-friendly...
25 Oct 2009 3:05pm
Bygone era... I still have one of those too and can't let it go.
25 Oct 2009 3:25pm
Wow - does this bring back memories! Thinking back you'll probably find the plug for the earphones are bigger than the mp3 player!
25 Oct 2009 4:07pm
I would LOVE to see someone pull that out and place it on their tray table on a flight! haahhah
25 Oct 2009 4:45pm
Looking at those obsolete magnificent machines of the past it seems that we have been living for centuries. Indeed it's only for some decades. They (the machines) look beautiful and still sound well.
25 Oct 2009 5:51pm
You may need to book a separate seat for your music Ronnie, but just for the record I'm glad to see you've got it taped. ;)
25 Oct 2009 6:17pm
A very unusual composition, but I like it a lot
25 Oct 2009 7:35pm
Wow, technology has come a long, long way....thank goodness. What a great contrast in the two appliances that both do the same job. Wow.
25 Oct 2009 7:44pm
You will need an extra seat for that one! funny shot.
25 Oct 2009 9:34pm
Such a wonderful vintage equipment you've got Ronnie! not to mention your Dave Brubeck tape! I would love to hear the old Beocord 2000 playing!
25 Oct 2009 10:05pm
@Giovanni: Yes, she still works - although connecting up with those DIN leads is a bit of nightmare !
Good evening, Ronnie,
super, I'm excited about this old tape recorder. We started earlier than this tape recorders were still modern, even a fun with it. We burping into the microphone and took it on tape. Then we played it off very loud with the windows open. The neighbors were terrified and thought that a lion had roared. Everyone looked out the
window to find out where it came from. Today, I still laugh about this joke. I hope you understand this joke. Dear greetings Christel
25 Oct 2009 10:09pm
@Christel: Dearest Christel, not only do we get the joke but it is even funnier for the way you have told it ! One of the nice things about AM3 is the lovely sense of sharing and, at OurTwoSense, we have got into the habit of pushing that beyond just the photography and to lighten as many hearts as we can with a smile. Thanks for being a good player. (Lilly and Ronnie)
Ronnie you have so many treasures at home... Very nice juxtaposition showing changes and modernism.
26 Oct 2009 12:10am
What a laugh, the comparison. As usual your images stir my imagination and I can imagine someone on a flight sitting next to me with that huge player and probably extra large headphones.
To think this recorder was once a common device. Simple to operate but so complicated to transport.
Todays devices simple but sometimes complicated to operate (depending on age and experience) yet very portable.
Great work.

@Barbara: Thanks, Barbara ! You have reminded me that I do have a 'surround sound' four-speaker giant headset in my 'museum' somewhere !
You will have a huge problem checking that monster in as cabin luggage :) all though I would love to hear Take Five coming from this deck! Are you planning a long trip?
26 Oct 2009 5:16am
@Monique: hee hee . . the 'trip' was only to my basement museum and back again ! (Ronnie)
ha ! Reminds me of my dad's machine, I loved it, 4 tracks and you could do gems !
Thanks for the memories... and the generous grin we share daily here*
26 Oct 2009 11:36am
@k@: Thanks for enjoying the fun, Karine !
I'm sure there will be an extra charge for bringing your music on board! When she is right, she's right!
26 Oct 2009 2:16pm
The stuff on the right side is the brand new ipod touch?
26 Oct 2009 2:29pm
@Luca Bobbiesi: (from Lilly) no, its an iPod Nano. Old school, these days.
Love it! That reel-to-reel reminds me of my radio days when I was a DJ. You need a big-ass set of earphones and a bean-bag chair to go with it! :)
26 Oct 2009 2:35pm
Oh my have times changed. Love this!!! Really lets you see technology at work. Brilliant shot! : )
26 Oct 2009 3:19pm
very old magnetic phone, i remerber on my children time
26 Oct 2009 6:29pm
What a hoot. I think I prefer to travel a little lighter than Ronnie.
26 Oct 2009 11:24pm
You've kept the Beocord in great shape! It looks brand new. I still have yet to get myself an IPod.
27 Oct 2009 12:29am
@Steven: Yes, hardly a mark on her but was seldom used, if truth be told : an idea that never much blossomed. I, too, have resisted iPods and drew a line after Minidisc - which I rather liked. (Ronnie)
Oh my... we still have one of those recorders downstairs - actually it belonged to my hubby and he has tapes of him talking on there...
27 Oct 2009 2:17am
A friend of ours used to have one of these. A very cool machine. As things get smaller (and more practical) like ipods and kindles, the sheer masculine beauty of a big industrially designed machine is lost.
27 Oct 2009 2:33am
@Framed and Shot: Yes, true . . and the degree of 'involvement' is much reduced, too. One would sit there monitoring the recordings in real time . . and deleting an unwanted song needed non-magnetic scissors ! (Ronnie)
i used to have a similar deck - it was really damn heavy! (of course, I still have a number of reels - and nothing to play them on...)
27 Oct 2009 7:27am
Wow!!!
(Ronnie)
haha very very funny:) You have a precious antique in your possession!:)
27 Oct 2009 2:00pm
fantastic image, i like the reel to reel, and the music ,.....what type of reel to reel is it ?
27 Oct 2009 10:21pm
@alex centrella: Bang and Olufsen Beocord 2000, 1964 !
@Denise: hee hee . . some of the stuff you see on here is from charity and antique shops and goes back to Victorian times . . so, this tape deck is a product of a mere yesterday ! (Ronnie the Curator)
Fascinating image, use to have one of these, had to be almost 40 years ago. Looks like new, great shot, interesting work as usual.
28 Oct 2009 1:19am
This one is very graphic and the idea is very immediate. Excellent!
28 Oct 2009 8:39am
Don't see anything wrong with getting that on the plane, it'll fit in the overhead! A great combination of shots!
28 Oct 2009 11:27am
All the while thinking it was a personal air conditioning unit : ]
29 Oct 2009 1:30am
fantastic collection! and i love Dave Brubeck!
29 Oct 2009 12:02pm
I just love the combination of the past and the present in this one!
31 Oct 2009 8:31pm
I parted with my reel-to-reel evern before I parted with my film cameras.
