Lilly : We are thinking of changing over to electronic locks here, Ronnie - more secure.
Ronnie : I prefer the old Henry VIIIl crank - where I can see the bolts slide home.
Lilly : Remember, if someone steals that crank, y'll need call out the Duke of Norfolk !

Very funny! I really like your idea and realization. I also like the blue colour that connects the images.
16 Jan 2012 5:30am
@Ani: Yes, the blue was a bonus here and was just by chance - but that happens more than it should ! (Ronnie)
A bottle of coke might be real handy to open that rusty gate! No idea if that has the same effect as the Duke? ;)
16 Jan 2012 5:56am
Leave it to you two to always see two sides of an issue!
16 Jan 2012 6:40am
I wouldn't trust the Duke of Norfolk if I was you !
Terrific image
16 Jan 2012 6:43am
@Doug: Have you seen him around ? He's not answering his phone ! (Ronnie)
Who needs all that electronic stuff with batteries to change? I like that easy care version that Ronnie uses. It must have such a reassuring thunk when it locks.
16 Jan 2012 6:51am
@Steve Rice: Ohhh . . you are so right, Steve . . (Ronnie)
I suppose the lock should depend on what's being locked up.
16 Jan 2012 7:03am
Excellent ! Je te souhaite une agréable journée
JP
16 Jan 2012 7:09am
That is a fabulous old lock, I wish I was as organised as Lily, I have been meaning to do someyhing with all the keys in the drawer for years, maybe today!
16 Jan 2012 7:53am
very well done and beautiful door (and why the Duke of Norfolk ?)
16 Jan 2012 7:56am
@Veronique: ( . . he was in charge of Henry VIII's army at the time, that's all !! ) (Ronnie)
that crank would be rather heavy putting it into your pocket
just sayin'
16 Jan 2012 8:06am
Haha, must be in an old hotel on an island! So exaggerated and interesting!
16 Jan 2012 8:17am
@Riccardo: Now, you got me worried . . it was here just a moment ago . . . oh my . . (Ronnie)
very nice. and wonderful composition. really great image.
16 Jan 2012 8:33am
Brilliant ! The textures and the colors are great... Nice collections of keys btw :) Have a lovely day !
16 Jan 2012 8:36am
@Tamara: Thank you, Tamara - stay safe out there ! (Ronnie)
Wow... belle serrure avec ses couleurs un peu rouillées
et belle texture.))
16 Jan 2012 8:56am
@tataray: Merci, mon ami ! (Ronnie)
New and slightly older lock technique in the same view. A great report on the ever changing.
16 Jan 2012 9:23am
Très belle composition avec des ombres intéressantes et une texture nickel! ;-)
16 Jan 2012 9:37am
@Monik: Merci, Monik, ont une belle journée ! (L&R)
Very impressive, Ronnie - one lock to rule them all!
16 Jan 2012 9:48am
Interesting. I love those old lock mechanisms.
16 Jan 2012 10:30am
@Philip: Yes, it is nice to be able to see how that stuff actually works ! (Ronnie)
That crank - wouldn't like it on a string around my neck!
Can you get a copy of it made at your local cobblers?
16 Jan 2012 10:56am
@Curly: Not by any old cobbler, Curly - has to be Appointed to His Majesty. (Ronnie)
That crank seems to be a perfectly secure option. Nowadays nobody knows how it works.
16 Jan 2012 11:16am
Thank you - we had fun putting this one together because they were images not intended for 'pairing' and not, even for O2S ! (Lilly and Ronnie)
Very interesting shot, and a very difficult issue you've got there !!
16 Jan 2012 12:11pm
We need not worry so long as Lilly and Ronnie are on the watch....keys confuse me...Ronnie, I am with you on this one!
16 Jan 2012 12:48pm
@Denny Jump Photo: Forward Denny, Ronnie and King Henry !! (R)
:) !! la c'est sécurisé !! il faut pouvoir s'y retrouver !!:)
16 Jan 2012 1:17pm
@Lougris: Tout va bien ! (Ronnie)
A superb framing and great atmosphere ! Beautiful photo !
16 Jan 2012 1:23pm
@Mhelene: Thank you - we were happy with this one ourselves ! (from Lilly)
@Goddess ☼ Ƹl¡: It is to the entrance of one of England's 'stately homes' . . and certainly not to mine !! (Ronnie-not-stately)
much more manly, satisfying and rewarding, that crank ... and such a lovely blue !!
16 Jan 2012 2:30pm
I prefer the old fashioned way myself! they just don't make things like they used to! (But that would mean I'd have to get rid of my computer and internet....hmmmmm)
16 Jan 2012 2:43pm
admirable organization, Lilly! Electronic locks are forward looking... Ronnie, oh Ronnie, you wear blue and history well - lol!
The contrasts of colors, lines and shapes are fantastic - as usual! bravo!!!
16 Jan 2012 2:58pm
@Photographs by M.E.: Thanks, Maria - yes, the colors work well for us in this ! (L&R)
Interesting photo. How secure are the keys?
16 Jan 2012 4:37pm
This sort of lock makes the regular keyed locks seem so ineffectual! ;-))
16 Jan 2012 4:41pm
@Eric Cousineau: Yes, there is a very reassuring sound as it slams into place - especially if a servant has got his hand caught in the mechanism ! (Ronnie)
Why does Lilly need so many chastity belt keys? Oh, now I look at bit closer at the labels...Milkman, Tom Cruise, Big Don from number 45, Jude Law. Now I get it...
16 Jan 2012 4:48pm
Ha ha... I'm old fashioned, too. It would be worth the risk of annoying a Duke to have that satisfying sense of immediate visual security! (wonderful image and wit)
16 Jan 2012 6:04pm
A surprising contrast between the door and the keys
16 Jan 2012 6:25pm
The old fashioned one is more secure , Lilly needs the electronic one it is not serious !
16 Jan 2012 6:29pm
Some things HAVE improved over the years. I'm happy about this improvement!
16 Jan 2012 6:41pm
Better hang on to #18. You never know when you will need to open the bathroom cabinet. Does anyone have an aspirin?
16 Jan 2012 7:03pm
@B. Thomas: ha ha . . yes, too right ! (from Lilly)
Very funny scene as always and well exposed ... Best regards Ronnie&Lilly
16 Jan 2012 7:29pm
@Adela Fonts: Thanks, Adela. (L&R)
An interesting issue to bring to the forefront. While I wouldn't be as archaeic as Ronnie, I don't think I could go electronic when it comes to security. It will only be a matter of time before someone is able to "hack" an electronic lock.
16 Jan 2012 7:51pm
@Steven: Indeed yes - much as they already do in stealing cars by copying the lock-unlock signals of the zapper . . (R)
Really cool lock. I think it might be worth the inconvenience, although I do have a terrible habit of losing keys...
16 Jan 2012 9:42pm
hihi .. yes, safety first! :-))
great shot, ronnie! :-))
16 Jan 2012 9:56pm
How timely! Saturday afternoon my garage door opener motor stopped working, and I had to disengage the door from the track and open it and lock it the old-fashioned way.
16 Jan 2012 10:20pm
@Julie L. Brown: Ah, there y'go, you see ! You'll be safe and sound, now, Julie. (Ronnie)
I think I prefer the crank. Nobody getting in when that is in use! Well done! And I really like that lock!
17 Jan 2012 12:51am
Yes Ronnie! I love those older locks too - and one of the reasons precisely being that if someone has to steal these big levers than the noise will be loud enough to raise the Duke of Norfolk from his grave haha :) Cheers!
17 Jan 2012 2:23am
@Nitin: Yay !! (from Lilly)
That's the thing with the old ones like this, when they lock you know for sure they are locked.
17 Jan 2012 4:45am
@Bill Brown: That's it in a nutshell, Bill ! (Ronnie)
Very funny Ronnie! These old locks have certainly a touch of magic
17 Jan 2012 6:10am
@Shaahin Bahremand: Thanx, Shaahin. (L&R)
Interesting locking arrangement...Nice use of Historical reference to your lock.
17 Jan 2012 10:23am
Very cool vault! Great find! How much the technology is, I guess the conventional stuffs gives more fun hehe
17 Jan 2012 12:16pm
@Dokmateo: Closing that vault door is a good way to lose fingers, though ! (Ronnie Intact)
Another clever contrast. I like the blue used to unify the image. Locks--living in the country the question is whether to lock the house when we leave or not. I've friends who never lock. Having lived in the city, I usually lock.
17 Jan 2012 12:55pm
@Anita: Sounds idyllic but I've lived with on-site 24/7 security, four-digit codes, a swipe card and CCTV for so long I'd be lost without them ! Now, where did I put my keys ? (Insecure Ronnie)
Excellent imagery and another fine concept! Well done!
17 Jan 2012 3:49pm
@Slackwater Don: . . smiles, thank you, Don. I thought you were about the say "Another Fine Mess" . . one of my favorite Laurel and Hardy shorts ! But before your time, I'm sure ! (Ronnie)
Absolutely amazing find!!! Couldn't remember when was the last time I saw something like this... Just love it!:-) Brilliant juxtaposition and amusing words, as always! Have a safe day you two!:-)
17 Jan 2012 4:29pm
@hugo poon: Thanks, Hugo - glad you like our whimsical offerings. (Lilly and Ronnie)
belle photo, c'est vrai il manque la trois
17 Jan 2012 6:35pm
wonderful tones and texture....
nothing wrong with 'old fashion locks' ;)
17 Jan 2012 7:17pm
great shot.nice subject.outstanding details.
17 Jan 2012 8:09pm
And who would you call if the electronic code is stolen? Bill Gates maybe? Great shot by the way!
17 Jan 2012 9:19pm
@Hanry: "We are unable to take your call at this time. Please try again later. Thanks for calling" !! (Ronnie)
a beautiful picture!! But he had never seen this and what is not blue. is like a hood or something? . a big kiss to Dods. Alejandra
18 Jan 2012 3:42am
@AMH: The image is made from an office key cabinet and the gate to a 'stately home' . . hugs, Alejandra. (Ronnie)
Great! And the Duke of Norfolk will come immediately :))
18 Jan 2012 6:20am
@Paco Díaz: I think I hear the coach arrive on a courtesy visit . . now, where is my best robe ? (Regal Ronnie)
If you can see it working, it's more real.
18 Jan 2012 8:51am
I hope for you that we will not steal the crank if you're good for a session of spiritism to get in touch with the Duke of Norfolk :)) Good day.
18 Jan 2012 10:24am
@Tede: I thought I heard him coming thru earlier but it was just the wind in the wires . . (Ronnie) Ronnie, do you have the Duke's number there ? I know it is a CCVII area-code . . (from Lilly)
Be careful... someone stole the key n°3... great composition !
18 Jan 2012 12:32pm
@Evelyne Dubos: lol . . I think that's the key to the key cabinet ! (from Lilly)
LOL :-))
I'd keep the crank!!
I bet it squeeks, so you can hear people enter.
All that electronic stuff is not to be trusted ..........
18 Jan 2012 2:11pm
Very comical...lovely subtle shadows in the key case...great images!
18 Jan 2012 7:52pm
@RBL: Agreed on those shadows - it was just a grabbed shot in someone's office and I doubt I could ever re-create that strange light ! (from Lilly)
No,no...stick to the keys! Electronic lockers are headaches....and leave the crank alone, no need to be more crank-y....
19 Jan 2012 2:06pm
I feel safer with mecanichal ones but a locker based on the reconnaissance of someone is good.
21 Jan 2012 8:05am
@Akaruiphoto: Ah. yes, a sharp lookout is the best security ! (Ronnie)
i prefer the rustic solution of the right hand... more iron, harharhar ;)
25 Jan 2012 8:02am
@gootchai: Merci - c'est l'un de nos favoris personnels de récents postings ! (Lilly and Ronnie)
