Lilly : Do you have these crime-watch schemes around your way ?
Ronnie : We do - but I cannot say I have much confidence in them.
Lilly : Well, yes, looks like someone stole part of your sign for starters !

@Riccardo: They are all-seeing ! (R)
Those pesky meercats get everywhere, we need to start watching out for them
5 Mar 2012 7:24am
It is true that these surimates make excellent guards, excellent shot! Good day.
5 Mar 2012 8:28am
to be honest... I think I'll feel safer with Lilly's neighbourhood watch... the meercats don't do much for my peace of mind... :) What kind of neighbourhood watch are they refering to? Not the busy bodies'/gossiping type... ?
5 Mar 2012 8:31am
@Anina Botes: I personally doubt if the Scheme offers much in the way of added surveillance, myself . . and, if something did happen, I fear the response time would be extensive. Just my view. (Ronnie)
Great fun I think with those meercat watching the neighbourhood :-))
I would enjoy myself .........
5 Mar 2012 9:06am
Do you mean...how to spy on your neighbours? I know they do it well in China...wonder why they don't license and sell the product ?!
5 Mar 2012 9:20am
@Japanalia: I am reading a novel set in Stalin's Russia . . everyone is watching everyone else watching them being watched ! (Comrade Ronnie)
Yes, Ronnie, you better start looking for another security company.
5 Mar 2012 9:36am
Bien ... vu ! Je te souhaite une agréable journée
JP
5 Mar 2012 10:10am
I like the juxtaposition of cloaks and masks with meerkats!
5 Mar 2012 11:04am
Hahaha... Spies are everywhere ! So funny ! Have a lovely day :)
5 Mar 2012 11:21am
That would be a great neighborhood watch, a mob of meerkats :) Even easier when all the burglars and criminals looked like the one on Lily's sign ;) Really enjoy that sign on your half of the collage Ronnie!
5 Mar 2012 11:43am
Great find and super idea . I have no confidence in neighborhood watching !!
5 Mar 2012 12:34pm
The real question is who is watching the watchers?? Well done you two! ;-)
5 Mar 2012 12:45pm
Beobachten das machen die Erdmännchen sehr gut. Ob das für die Nachbarschaft reicht.
Ich habe da so meine Zweifel.
5 Mar 2012 12:50pm
@Heinz: Ja, ehrlich gesagt, bin ich viel eher eine inhaftierte zum Fotografieren, dass ein Einbrecher ir für das Brechen in ist ! (Ronnie)
Very funny, Ronnie's neighborhood looks a bit dangerous! Great photos!
5 Mar 2012 1:38pm
Lol. A great contrast between two different means to the same end.
5 Mar 2012 2:12pm
@Viewfinder: Yeah, curiously different for the same purpose . . (Ronnie)
I don't understand it, but I'm laughing, which is what really counts. :-)
5 Mar 2012 4:28pm
@Anita: You are right on the bulls-eye there Anita - that's all that matters ! (Ronnie)
I guess they're comparing the neighbours these days eh?
5 Mar 2012 5:10pm
Very funny ! If someone from the neighborhood reported you to the authorities for taking pictures... that would be a good sign that they are watching !! :))
5 Mar 2012 5:20pm
@Bertrand Duhamel: That has happened so often, I've lost count . . I carry a sample citation with me to save time writing it out afresh ! (Ronnie)
I much prefer the meerkats to the burglar guy...there seems to be a disconnect in their sign though! Maybe the burglat guy stole it...
5 Mar 2012 5:21pm
@Denny Jump Photo: Those burglar guys just have no scruples, Denny ! (Ronnie)
how do you get invented and found, well done!
5 Mar 2012 6:10pm
The meerkats are cuter but seem less effective in the warning department. One would have to do a bit of research with the local police precincts to compare statistics. Perhaps a group of rabid wolverines? Do wolverines get rabies? I'm too busy snickering at your ingenious post to care, actually ;-)
5 Mar 2012 6:33pm
@Rick: Well, in the UK, we have so much CCTV surveillance that I'm surprised any offenses are ever attempted - but, if people are determined to act wrongly, I guess they will whatever . . . and the cameras and signs just make them think there is more worth stealing. (Ronnie)
At least for the signs it doesn't look very effective.
5 Mar 2012 7:47pm
Looks like somebody was taking a bit out of crime! Those meerkats look too friendly! Made me laugh!
5 Mar 2012 9:08pm
@Elaine Hancock: They are rather comic for something so potentially serious . . but watchful, though ! (Ronnie)
I don't know about your neighborhood, but meerkat crime has sky rocketed in our neck of the woods. There is so much suspicious activity to watch. Why, someone should make a TV show about it!
5 Mar 2012 10:41pm
:-)))
today, nothing or nobody is safe anymore? :-))
5 Mar 2012 10:43pm
Funny, but maybe has a flock of goose more effect? Perhaps you can try it ......
5 Mar 2012 10:52pm
@Hanry: Maybe . . but we'd need a cleanup squad, too ! (Ronnie)
@Pavan Kaul: Sadly so . . thanks, Pavan. (Ronnie)
The surimates are good stewards ...! Funny dialogue (always is but sometimes do not understand very well!) Today if I understand! ... A good ideal composition for dialogue.
Thank you very much dear friends R&L! A hug, Adela

6 Mar 2012 11:46am
Um. I think the two signs are watching each other but who is watching them, watching? It's all very complicated!
6 Mar 2012 1:40pm
The most important is the result ..........
6 Mar 2012 2:58pm
Very funny concept. Two good shots to illustrate this idea.
6 Mar 2012 3:20pm
Personally, I think a sketchy silhouette is more deterring than some meerkats.
Great composition.
6 Mar 2012 3:44pm
@Tara: A stout lock, a big dog and some bars are likely better still ! Thanks, Tara. (Ronnie)
and I am not sure whose suspicious activities they are watching
6 Mar 2012 3:56pm
@Navin Harish: Everyone is under suspicion . . we are The Watched. (Ronnie)
LOL - hysterical. The meerkats were too busy bickering amongst themselves (as they do) to be watching out for crime.
6 Mar 2012 7:02pm
@kiwisa: . . smiles . . you are right - they make a strange choice ! (Ronnie)
LOL! Really funny! Where are you getting these frames hahahaha!!! Beautiful and funny juxtaposition! Two thumbs up!
6 Mar 2012 7:30pm
It's interesting what one can guess about the two cultures based upon how they inform citizens. The American sign seems rather sinister!
7 Mar 2012 6:16am
@GJC: Indeed, yes - there are so many similarities that come up different ! (L&R)
There is a Chinese proverb that goes a neighbour who is a door away is better than a family member who lives miles away. Provided we are blessed with caring ones who don't mind keeping us posted of dangers!:)
7 Mar 2012 9:21am
@tyan: Very true words, Tyan . .
Looks like the old Spy vs Spy pair is back in action in Lilly's neighborhood! The meerkats are cute but I suspect only have eyes for their next meal!
7 Mar 2012 10:51am
Ah ha, now we know who is behind Big Brother....!
7 Mar 2012 12:16pm
Love the idea of meercats watching over me. Too funny!!!
7 Mar 2012 12:31pm
When Sir Ralph Effinton-Smythe sold the Americans the English alphabet in 1776, he got a good deal for His Majesty, however, I would have given them a 4 % discount, rather then just not selling them a "U"
7 Mar 2012 3:26pm
@CElliottUK: ha ha . . nice one - that old saying about our being two nations divided by a common language slips into mind, too . . reminds me of seeing this exchange pasted into a forum somewhere between Wilde and Shaw : Wilde repeatedly reacts to Shaw's jibes by saying "I wish I'd said that," to which Shaw responds, "You will, Oscar, you will." (Ronnie)
and i'm still rather in favoUr of the ground squirrel brigade ... ;-))
much better than being shot at by a gun-toting "neighboUr" ...
7 Mar 2012 6:10pm
@franz: Something in what you say there, Franz - although those rodents do carry a bite ! (Ronnie)
With so much watching, there probably isn't any privacy for anyone.
7 Mar 2012 11:34pm
Are the meerkats looking out for you, or are you to be on the lookout for meerkats invading the neighborhood??
8 Mar 2012 1:51am
Love those meerkats...they are the greatest when it comes to sentry duty for their group. Now, as for watching to report...hmmm, kinda smacks of the old Hitlerian times....who can you trust? who is afraid of something different? and so on. Doesn't engender a healthy sense of community...regardless of the intent. We have them here too! ;oD
9 Mar 2012 5:44am
@janina: Interestingly different 'take' - I'd not thought of it that way but I'm sure there is 'over-zealousness' in it somewhere ! Thanks, Janina. (Ronnie)
so, it ain´t the big but the small "brothers" watching you... makes me feel even more uncomfortable.
9 Mar 2012 1:45pm
Those on the right are very curious and cute. That of Lilly makes me a little scared but he has a funny side too ... In any case I do not like spying ...
11 Mar 2012 11:16am
Nice! But who was watching the watch sign, heh heh
12 Mar 2012 4:30am
IMO not funny to see this ; means that the authorities are not enough and it's the illusion of safer society.
15 Mar 2012 12:15pm
hahahaha! I get the sarcasm... Very well composed!
