Lilly : Monuments look so forlorn when they are displayed out of place, you think ?
Ronnie : Yes, I feel that when I see George Washington here in London, Lilly.
Lilly : That might be more because that's Abraham Lincoln . .

@Ellebelle: . . if only I could remember the way back, Ellebelle ! (Ronnie)
History classes might have been a big bore ? Enjoyed the dialogue & illustration ;))
20 May 2013 7:33am

20 May 2013 8:31am
Doesn't matter Ronnie, I knew it just like you either. Never paid attention in school.
The past is gone, now we look to the future!
20 May 2013 8:49am
@Yvonne Simons (:|:): . . not all that sure I like what I see, Yvonne . . (Ronnie)
Hahahaha !! What did you smoke this week-end ?
20 May 2013 9:42am
@Veronique: Thanks for the reminder - I need open a few windows here . . (Ronnie )
@Jean-Luc T.: Merci, J-L (R)
She is more out of place. ! Poor Mrs Liberty, a hamburger instead of the torch ! Lincoln in London??? That's nothing.
20 May 2013 9:47am
Statue of Liberty, a place a little suspicious. Abe Lincoln looks natural.
20 May 2013 9:53am
George, sorry, Abraham is waiting for a Big Mac.
20 May 2013 9:59am
@El pare: ha ha . . wasn't it George who had the wooden teeth ? (Ronnie)
So beautiful collage
Majestic Liberty and A. Lincoln statue
Great angle, colors, shapes, DOF
20 May 2013 10:57am
So they've put up a statue of Daniel Day Lewis in London? What about Brad Pitt? (I do know that the one of Tom Cruise was taken down as people complained about not being able to see it as it was too small) As for the picture on the left, I see that Justin Bieber's move to wearing a dress still needs a bit of work
20 May 2013 11:21am
Great pictures and a nice dialogue! Look a little like they would come to the wrong place!:-))Haleja molemmille!
Happy new week for both of you,my friends!
20 May 2013 11:46am
Our great lady holding up a burger, a break from trying to hold up the lamp of freedom, perhaps, which was such a responsibility for just one (big) goddess. And Abe, dear Abe. It's ok to mix him with the other cool guy, George. They were troupers.
20 May 2013 12:02pm
@Joyce: Yes, seeing the Statue of Liberty holding a burger just made me laugh and I knew I needed to take a photo for our site! (from Lilly)
Ce qu'il y a d'embêtant avec les statues, c'est que la photographie les tue deux fois...
Bon début de semaine lumineuse!
20 May 2013 12:03pm
I was going to say that "George" was looking awfully tall and thin these days. :-) A great of both of these!
20 May 2013 12:10pm
Great dialogue and photos! I love the statue of Abraham Lincoln!
20 May 2013 12:52pm
@Mireille T.: Yes, I never got to meet him (!) but, somehow, that statue carries his presence . . not sure why.
Ah! This time Lilly nailed you! (:-)
Lincoln in London? Where? I don't remember having seen him, but probably my memory fails me...
Again a well chosen couple: the statue of liberty, a symbol of American independence and Abraham Lincoln, the father of America and the fighter for the abolition of slavery. Sad but true they look so out of place in that context. Good choice to have used a frame which make them resemble two slides, as if they were part of a sequence.
(Now I made a discovery: at the beginning I gave it for granted that "L" and "R" meant "left" and "right", but now I suddenly realized that it means: Lilly and Ronny. Oh my, I'm really getting old! (:-)
20 May 2013 1:52pm
@Longroute: Turns out he was standing right behind me when I took that recent shot of what we (and Google Maps) call 'Big Ben' a few days back - in Parliament Square. (Ronnie)
Very beautiful statues, Ronnie you need to change your glasses, confused Lincoln and Washington, it's not serious.
Have a good week.
20 May 2013 2:04pm
le dialogue est toujours très savoureux
moi aussi j'avais pensé left et right et je me demandais pourquoi ;p
20 May 2013 2:06pm
Ah !! Ronnie...you should have brought in the French too by quoting Equality, Liberty and Fraternity...to add to the confusion :-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
20 May 2013 3:36pm
@Devi: It was a tough day, Devi. While taking the shot, a guy in a black hood and orange jumpsuit came up and shouted "Free Shaker Aamer" . . no wonder I got confused. (Ronnie)
Lady Liberty holding a . . . burger! I can't see a statue of George Washington turning up in London. But, Abraham Lincoln seems more of a universal figure to me.
20 May 2013 5:29pm
No wonder Lilly is disturbed - Lady Liberty serving up burgers???? Ronnie, I am glad Lilly has set you straight about Lincoln - there was a movie out very recently which could have given you a clue. I will admit, I probably would not recognize all of your statesmen either.
20 May 2013 5:43pm
Yes speaking as a "Yank" I would say that Abe was totally Cool ....and "Lady Liberty" means the world to us, literally....But it only goes downhill from there - and I had better stop before I draw fire....Excellent one here you two :-)
20 May 2013 7:26pm
Abraham Washington and George Lincoln, je ne sais plus où j'en suis :) Excellent comme toujours ici. Bonne journée.
20 May 2013 7:28pm
@Tede: Je souhaite que nous avions pensé à celui-là, Tede ! / I wish we had thought of that one,Tede ! (Ronnie)
LOL. Those founding fathers are all the same.
20 May 2013 7:31pm
this is history Ronnie now we look to the future.
But they remain important to the history
:-)) very nice found.
20 May 2013 8:18pm
Dear Ronnie it is never too late to learn ... and that from a blonde too! :-)
20 May 2013 8:19pm
@Kate: . . what better way ! (Ronnie)
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning for a burger, but remember, not all burgers are created equal.
20 May 2013 8:59pm
@B. Thomas: ha ha . . we can all march to that if only we knew where we were going ! (Ronnie-on-the-March)
hihi .. every day is a new experience if you see your daily life through new eyes .. ;-)))
20 May 2013 9:49pm
haha mistaken identity, I think we all feel similar Lilly :-) two iconic figures out of place, clever...and of course another enjoyable dialogue !
20 May 2013 10:40pm
hahaha! love the caption! Also love the "freedom burger" (not sure how else to describe it). great pair of images, as always.
21 May 2013 8:58am
@Chris Pereira: . . "freedom burger" - I like that ! (Ronnie)
Well...I have a question: The French gave that Lady Liberty statue to the American people; WHO gave Lincoln's statue to the British and WHY?
21 May 2013 10:59am
@Japanalia: The work is by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and a replica of the original that stands in Lincoln Park, Chicago. Apparently, it was not intended for London but the President's son, Robert, heard that something entirely different was to be erected here and used his influence to get this dedicated in 1920. It commemorated 100 years of peace between Britain and the USA after the end of the War of 1812. (various sources) (Ronnie)
Haha...Love the comments elicited from this fine pairing! "Freedom burger" is perfect!!
21 May 2013 1:57pm
@my-ky: Yes, agree there on the burger, Deb ! (Ronnie)
chacun à sa façon de trôner, une trône la lumière et l'autre le pouvoir....
21 May 2013 2:08pm
Bravo ... you made me laugh with desire ... Always pluck a sense of comfort and humor in your conversations with the suffering Lilly! Thank you very much once again for your great talent! A hug, Adela
21 May 2013 5:56pm
Don't worry, Ronnie, your statue is much bigger than that lady with a torch...
21 May 2013 6:23pm
It made me smile, it could have been a quote from the Simpsons, love the Abe pic
21 May 2013 6:29pm
:) superb dialogue! The first thing that came to my mind is the final stage of "The planet of apes" (the one of 1968, not 2001) :)))
21 May 2013 6:57pm
@Japanalia: Thank you, too - I learned a lot from that myself !! (Ronnie)
Awesome picture that are both in their may be real place :) Reminds me of a joke we had around in India between 2 monuments - the Victoria Terminus in Bombay and the Qutub Minar in Delhi. Have a good day!
22 May 2013 4:31am
Oh My word, is that a hamburger Ms Liberty is holding. Seriously!!!! WaaHaa:)
22 May 2013 7:34am
Burger, Lincoln, Ms Liberty what is going on here? :)
22 May 2013 8:28am
@Sarito: Something murky for sure . . (Ronnie)
It seems strange for Lincoln to be in London, but I read your reply to Japanalia, so I am a little more informed now.
22 May 2013 10:02am
@Julie L. Brown: Yes, I'm better informed about it myself, now ! Thanks, Julie. ( Ronnie )
This is one in which the dialogue makes the humor. :-)
22 May 2013 6:43pm
Lady Liberty definitely looks out of place, but George (Abe) is cool.
22 May 2013 9:19pm
oh no... did lady liberty lose her job? she's serving burger now?
In jest! My apologies to anyone who might be offended...
23 May 2013 1:14am
et pourtant:on ne peu pas se tromper en voyant cet homme...
belle idée pour la photo!.;;-)
