" oakay" !! You have come back with acorns I suppose !!!
12 Sep 2013 5:25am
@Devi: Good (early here) morning, Devi " . . from little acorns . . " (Ronnie Growing)
Interesting photo. As usual - a great presentation.
12 Sep 2013 5:35am
@Bruce: Thanks, Bruce - a fleeting touch of trompe-l'œil quodlibet here, I suppose. (Ronnie)
Giving a helping hand to Mother Nature is necessarily a good project !
12 Sep 2013 6:36am
@Bruno F: I do what I can . . (Ronnie)
the tree is the beginning of everything!
12 Sep 2013 6:59am
Being an ex Matlot I know you have a "heart of oak" Ronnie
12 Sep 2013 7:04am
You'll have to sing and talk a lot to let them grow fast, Ronnie ............
Good luck :-)))
12 Sep 2013 7:31am
@Ellebelle: Really ? The acorn-seller never told me that ! (Ronnie Uninformed)
yes , long term but so nice project ! very cool shot, i love it and hope to see furthers photography of the growing :)
12 Sep 2013 8:15am
This should give you plenty of time to produce your own pigments too. For example by feeding your cow a diet of mangoes, collecting its urine and reducing it you will be able to make a stunning Indian yellow
12 Sep 2013 10:07am
@grouser: This is valuable knowledge, Grouser. I don't own a cow but I saw one in Belgravia just recently and will take mangoes and a spare bucket next time I am over that way clocking up my Community Service. (Ronnie - Offender 783341/R)
He-he-he...Lilly gave a life-long task!
12 Sep 2013 11:02am
@Japanalia: That should keep me quiet ! (Ronnie)
En effet, il faudra attendre quelques temps pour se mettre à l'ombre!
12 Sep 2013 11:26am
@Jean-Luc T.: Oui, je veux garder le parasol à portée de main ! (Ronnie)
Great minds - This year I am planning to get Tegan and Gethin to plant a couple of acorns from our oak tree. Recently returned to Blenheim Palace and they have some Oak trees that must be several hundreds of years old - so a definate "long term project"
12 Sep 2013 11:37am
@Jules: No rush, Jules . . (Ronnie)
It looks like you have some green seeds sprouting. You might want to set up a time-lapse camera on them and do something else for awhile. Grouser's comment cracked me up!
12 Sep 2013 11:40am
@Julie L. Brown: Life-long learning for me, Julie . . (R)
Beautifully-composed shot with seamless transition between the two shots! I'll check back in 50 years! I planted some acorns two years ago and the saplings are about 18" tall with four leaves. :-)
12 Sep 2013 12:18pm
@Steven: That's encouraging - I do intend to give it a try ! (Ronnie)
We have some huge old oaks here in Florida. Did you visit here about 100 years ago w/some acorns and your trowel, Ronnie?
Your watercolor is beautiful, Lily; you do nice work! ;D
12 Sep 2013 12:32pm
Oh no........not another vegetarian foody shot :-)
12 Sep 2013 12:46pm
Good future story...
12 Sep 2013 1:03pm
Consider it a work in progress Ronnie! ;-))
12 Sep 2013 1:16pm
@Eric Cousineau: Yeah, that's the way, Eric ! (Ronnie)
Everything will be fine, enough creativity here!
12 Sep 2013 2:03pm
Planted ideas ??? is there a pun here ?
12 Sep 2013 2:37pm
@Veronique: Smiles . .
Beautiful frame photo...:-)
12 Sep 2013 2:43pm
the best shot
12 Sep 2013 2:55pm
A project that, while you wait, will give you lots of time for photography, Ronnie!
12 Sep 2013 3:25pm
@my-ky: Now, that's true ! (Ronnie)
Such a green thumb! Thanks for the smile today.
12 Sep 2013 3:56pm
If you have ideas, you would have to make the attempt to implement them.
12 Sep 2013 4:34pm
Yes but Long term projects, really, are the best. Anything that goes wrong - you can simply blame it on the weather or mother nature or the clown next door who ran over it with the lawnmower...leaving you "sans blame" for anything that does not turn out as expected...a masterful stroke here, Ronnie!!
12 Sep 2013 4:40pm
@Denny Jump Photo: You offer such sound advice, Denny - I have every confidence, now. (Ronnie)
Ronnie, I sure hope you do not encounter too many squirrels while working on your long term project.
12 Sep 2013 5:17pm
@Ruthiebear: Arlo says he will be setting up a firewall against those beasts, Ruthie. A truck with petroleum jelly is just offloading. They have found their match. (Ronnie)
Nice photo work Ron
12 Sep 2013 6:32pm
@Willem: Thank you. Your own posting for today is exceptionally fine - Spotlight material, I'd say. (Ronnie)
Looks like you both have green fingers!
12 Sep 2013 7:21pm
A superb illustration of hope and patience!
12 Sep 2013 7:48pm
I've enjoyed deeply both the conversation and the design of the image.
12 Sep 2013 8:05pm
@Francisco Romero: Thank you, Francisco - you are always welcome at O2S. (Ronnie)
Works as a cracking still life
12 Sep 2013 8:26pm
Too bad, I do not see him big enough to make darkening me, I leave the world and Aminus before.
Have a good evening.
12 Sep 2013 8:27pm
@gerard1948: Yeah, will be a long haul, I think ! (Ronnie)
tap, tap, tap, tap..... That's just me tapping my fingers while waiting for Ronnie's oak tree to grow. I'll be back in a few years to check the progress;)
12 Sep 2013 8:56pm
@kiwisa: Thanks, Frances. Strange when you actually think of the timescales - everyone here will be long gone before there is a magnificent oak from that little acorn. The fact that the 'tree' is in there is even more amazing, huh ? (Ronnie)
Assumptions about planting oak acorns, to obtain the new Oak trees grow! :-)) Haleja.
Happy evening for both of you my good friend!
12 Sep 2013 10:19pm
@Oiva: Thank you, Oiva . . grateful for all your Comments - appreciated. (L&R)
Make sure you squirrel-proof the plot Ronnie.
12 Sep 2013 10:23pm
@Daryl Johnson: Arlo is spreading a gel petroleum around the plot - reckons it is fireproof. (Ronnie)
12 Sep 2013 10:31pm
A fine idea with nicely arranged elements.
13 Sep 2013 12:34am
Sounds like you have plenty of time on your hands Ronnie! Maybe a little Miracle-Grow will help those acorns along!
13 Sep 2013 12:52am
@Elaine Hancock: I'll ask Arlo about that . . I think he has been feeding it to the cat. (Ronnie)
It great to see this composition ! Very well done !!
13 Sep 2013 2:28am
Oh Ronnie! Hahaha...literally 'planted' ideas, unless they grow as fast as the one in Jack and the beanstalk, then it's going to be a while :-))
13 Sep 2013 3:55am
@Abena: Yeah . . beans might have been a better bet for this Century ! Thanks, Abena. (Ronnie)
This is really beautiful. I really love the lighting and composition.
13 Sep 2013 4:48am
@Bettina: Thank you. Like most of our stuff here, it started out simple and cot complicated as we went along - kinda trompe-l'œil look to it in the end. Thanks, Bettina. (Ronnie)
Ronnie, I think that the results of your work you will be veeery much wait! ;)
13 Sep 2013 6:23am
@Frankiess: Yes, I checked this morning and no signs of a shoot !! (Ronnie)
A long-term project ! Good Luck!
13 Sep 2013 7:21am
A very long term project !! Nice composition.
13 Sep 2013 7:29am
Beautiful acorns! Love the title, long term project indeed!
13 Sep 2013 12:42pm
@tyan: 'Project' is our common word by chance, here - how about that ! (Ronnie)
From little things big things grow - but checking back later might involve decades rather than days!
13 Sep 2013 1:28pm
@Stephen: Someone I worked with long ago was fond of an expression of "a year is but an evening gone" . . when trying to explain delays . . He retired early. (Ronnie)
intéressante composition où j'aime ce rateau mini
13 Sep 2013 2:42pm
I like Ronnie timing. A fine solution given enough time.
13 Sep 2013 2:54pm
Very smart !
13 Sep 2013 3:53pm
Interesting and clever composition, Ronnie. I like the image. I think it will become a timeless image, not in the usual way that we say it... I mean that maybe time could be measured with different periods when the oak finally grows... ;-) This is a... really long term project !!!
13 Sep 2013 4:10pm
excellent idea of composition...
13 Sep 2013 4:29pm
Go for it, Ronnie! It is important to plant trees. An entimologist friend tell me Oaks are one of the best trees to plant for environmental reasons.
13 Sep 2013 5:28pm
@Anita: I am much strengthened by this advice, Anita ! Thank you. (Ronnie)
yes, it will take some time ..
but then, you get your own, homegrown oak? :-)))
I mean ..
your own forest? ;-))
13 Sep 2013 9:12pm

13 Sep 2013 9:27pm
Ronnie, I didn't realize that you were a preschooler.
13 Sep 2013 11:30pm
@john4jack: Everything is ahead of me . . a lifetime of learning ! (Ronnie)
Ronnie is an optimistic character, I like him a lot.
Really he is a "cronopio", the kind of people than the writer Julio Cortázar created, (see in Wikipaedia).
14 Sep 2013 5:42am
@Paco Díaz: "I spent my childhood in a haze full of goblins and elves, with a sense of space and time that was different from everybody else's." (Julio Cortázar) Yup, I know that feeling ! (Ronnie)
All these messages make a superb shot. Well done !
14 Sep 2013 12:51pm
@Rafael: Thank you - hope the weekend is going well for you. (Ronnie)
Let's plant an oak Ronnie?
14 Sep 2013 1:41pm
@Ana Lúcia: It's a go !!
Oak tree growing from seed is a long term project.
14 Sep 2013 2:11pm
@Jypyä Pop: I guess I best not set a minute timer for the checking, then ? (Ronnie)
I love this. The whole idea, the processing and composition are fantastic.
14 Sep 2013 4:30pm
@Regina G. Santaella: Thank you - hope the w/e is going well for you. (Ronnie)
A lesson in manifesting dreams. It works. Thought provoking Mr. 2

From little acorns, big oaks grow? No, I guess that's not it. Love the earthy goodness of this image. You two never disappoint.
