Lilly : Do you still have these cute phone booths over there ?
Ronnie : Yes, but they're available for alternative uses, now . .
Lilly : Alternative ? What alternative ? ?! Give me a call !

@jpla: True - presque triste de voir . .
Hooo oui ces superbes cabines qui ne sont plus employées avec les GSM! Très bonnes idées le recyclage!!J'aime ton article! bien vu!
29 Jun 2015 7:39am
@martine Libouton: Merci beaucoup - que vous avez repéré lien vers l'article réel rapide ! (Ronnie)
Multifunctional booths ..... I could use one to sell strawberries alongside my street. Great colour match ;-)
29 Jun 2015 8:53am
@Ellebelle: Yes, yes . . you could paint little yellow dots on the red to mimic the fruits - success should come easy ! (Ronnie)
En effet !! :) Bonne idée, elles sont très photogéniques ces cabines !!
29 Jun 2015 9:45am
@Lougris: Oui, je les manquer quand ils sont tous partis. . . (Ronnie)
Beautiful composition. It is so typical!! We have one of it - ornamental - on the square of the city hall to remember of a twinning.
29 Jun 2015 10:30am
Well reuse ... and here you will see many public book lending stalls may appear in ancient pay booths.
29 Jun 2015 11:09am
@Marjolein: Really ? . . good idea.
Calls... to the consumption now ! I feel a little of nostalgia in your images and in your words!
29 Jun 2015 11:45am
Ice cream pour moi !!!!........ :))))))))
Beau placard à pub ........... :D(
29 Jun 2015 11:47am
These will never disappear!! They are an iconic symbol!
I hear that many have been converted in charging stations for cell phones, too.
29 Jun 2015 12:13pm
@Steven: Yes, true about the charging stations.
Good they still are today on that lovely island.
29 Jun 2015 12:30pm
I have a big aim to see them in London and not the London eye .... now the
opportunity of seeing a twin and drinking a cup of coffee :))
29 Jun 2015 12:42pm
What a shame! I hope they won't disappear! They really are lovely! Great capture!
29 Jun 2015 1:17pm
Lilly is going to come up with a nifty use for these "available phone booths."
An interesting sign of the times isn't it.
29 Jun 2015 2:32pm
May be I'll have a shelf put inside with five or six cell phones for hire...I mean you could come in here and use the phone for a pound ( I have only a Dollar symbol on my dashboard :) )for fifteen minutes!! Howzzat ?
29 Jun 2015 2:59pm
So the world is changing. Turku is no longer a single telephone kiosks, since it is believed that everyone has a cell phone.
29 Jun 2015 3:18pm
Very cool....I can see these installed as the vestibule on the front of a house to give that Dr. Who feel.
29 Jun 2015 4:43pm
SUch a clever idea for recycling these beautiful booths. I will have to suggest it to a friend who has one in his back yard. Young people have no clue what phone booths are, all they know are photo booths. ANd poor SUperman!
29 Jun 2015 5:18pm
@Ruthiebear: Yes, communications have changed so much and so fast . . (Ronnie)
A coffee shop, with six tables, in one of these. Dr. Who must have left them behind. This is a clever way to preserve these beautiful old structures.
29 Jun 2015 5:56pm
How good the useless things find an alternative life! Very nice reflection of the another door in the glass! Like the brick texture, the green leaves & white clouds in these shots.
29 Jun 2015 7:48pm
@kiwisa: Excellent idea ! (R)
How interesting... I guess tourists would love it!
29 Jun 2015 8:58pm
:))) I was in London last year, and I saw more on the streets and functioning than used for those... alternative uses. In any case, I'd like one at home !!... but, I don't know where to install it... ;-)
29 Jun 2015 9:42pm
@Josep: Fast becoming a 'collectors' item' . . soon they will be stolen to order, I imagine. (Ronnie)
I would hope that they would be put to good use somehow. Such an iconic image! I think that they are wonderful! Maybe a small lending library. Take a book, leave a book.
30 Jun 2015 12:43am
Superman hasn't had a place to change in the U.S. in years. We should import a few.
30 Jun 2015 1:10am
I think it would be a perfect addition to the garden.
30 Jun 2015 2:24am
@Michael Rawluk: Yes, there are many that have ended up like that and which may now be quite valuable. The current going price (before shipping) is around £8,000 / $12,000 ! (R)
We have them,too, in our little community and they are just for public phones! And....I'd love them to stay as such and, moreover, be well taken care of to prevent them looking like in your shot, Ronnie!
30 Jun 2015 8:13am
@Japanalia: Yes, I agree with you on the condition of these, Gabriela - they have been 'decommissioned' for two or more years now and are in a sorry state. (Ronnie)
Don't forget photo booths as well! Good to see these phone boxes receive a second life - but even better if they could be maintained for their original purpose.
30 Jun 2015 11:16am
@Stephen: Yes, an era passing by, sadly . . (R)
Quel jeu de cabines rouges quel effet et vue sueprbe.

30 Jun 2015 1:16pm
Excellente idée, ce recyclage! Ils font tellement partie du décor!
30 Jun 2015 4:28pm
Love these phone booths! Great pair of photos! Sad that they are not around much anymore ... my grandchildren will never know these. I've had wonderful phone conversations in them :)
30 Jun 2015 6:28pm
@RBL: Yes, I guess we all have memories - good and bad - of calls in those booths . . (Ronnie)
it is a pitty these phone booths are gone, but the alternatives are endless. ;-))
30 Jun 2015 9:45pm
@Nazzareno: Thank you - hope your week is going well.
@Graciel·la (Vic. Catalonia): . . the end is nigh . .
We have one in my village now as many french villages.
it will be difficult to find one in England in the future!
2 Jul 2015 5:59am
@Tomix: Yes, they are increasingly being sold off as garden ornaments here . . . times change. (R)
What is going to be different in England now ? Uniformity what a sad thing. Annierita
2 Jul 2015 11:13am
@Annierita & Annisabelle: I know . . a world of sameness . . (Ronnie)
Wonderful shots. Currently pay phones could be alternative for mobile phones, although they used yo be star players for our communications.
2 Jul 2015 2:21pm
@Kyu: Yes, mobile communications have been a transformation in our lifetimes . . for better and/or worse ! (Ronnie)
Pour le moment, ce serait pour vendre de la crême glacée.

7 Jul 2015 8:10am
What a good and original idea. In France, most of them have disappeared
17 Jul 2015 1:06pm
Maybe they are a little on the small side?!
20 Jul 2015 11:41pm
I always feel a bit sad when thinking of all those red phone booths gone ! Same with the London cabs. They're part of my childhood dreams about England :)
22 Jul 2015 7:47am
@Lulette: Yes, some changes hurt the memory . . . (Ronnie)
