I know i am lucky
24 Sep 2018 5:48am
@pascale: Lucky indeed. Strangely, I've never grown tomatoes myself. (Ronnie)
Je choisis sans hésitation les unes d'abord et les autres ensuite.
24 Sep 2018 6:10am
@Captain Guildive Ajoupa: Oui, Lilly a tendance à avoir raison ! (Ronnie)
Sometimes listen to Lilly's advice, Ronnie! ;))))

A middle way: Heinz tomato ketchup.
24 Sep 2018 8:51am
@Willem: Now, that's a good option ! (R)
Superb presentation . Choices in many way but... we eat regularly the small tomatoes and from time to time we have a rough time with pleasure the "real tomatoes "
24 Sep 2018 9:02am
Nothing wrong with Ronnie's cherry picking Lilly
24 Sep 2018 9:11am
Lilly's tomatoes look like good ones. In Ukraine, we have so many natural tomatoes. After that, it's difficult to find similar in the west.
24 Sep 2018 9:15am
Ronnie, my back yard garden in Elora features Mennonite seed (centuries old, un-modified) tomatoes of the sort that would bring tears to Lilly's eyes, but I'm not so sure what you would think of them...
24 Sep 2018 10:09am
@Rick: Yes, I get the picture . . (Ronnie)

Wonderful captures. Beautiful colors.
24 Sep 2018 1:03pm
I had a cherry tomato and an heirloom variety of tomato growing in my garden this summer. The cherry tomatoes were definitely the best.
24 Sep 2018 1:09pm

24 Sep 2018 1:23pm
@Hiro: A useful word ! ( from Lilly )
Eat natural food, Ronnie!!!
24 Sep 2018 1:43pm
I live in NJ where we have the famous Jersey tomatoes. My favorites are the heirlooms, which come in many colors and sizes. Ronnie, at least yours are fresh? Where ever did you find so many the same size and so red? My local markets do not feature any that look like that. They look more like Lilly's variety of color, even when cherry or grape size.
24 Sep 2018 3:03pm
@Ruthiebear: I'm starting to think mine are artificially reared . . they are so much alike ! (Ronnie)
Two great photos of this very common fruit showing just how wonderful Nature is in producing variety. Personally love a bit of the green crunch when eating tomatoes, so the large variety would be my choice - they look delicious!

25 Sep 2018 12:04am
@: Helen :: We live, we learn ! No wonder my life is difficult . . And, then, I read this : "In 1887, U.S. tariff laws that imposed a duty on vegetables, but not on fruits, caused the tomato's status to become a matter of legal importance. The U.S. Supreme Court settled this controversy on May 10, 1893, by declaring that the tomato is a vegetable, based on the popular definition that classifies vegetables by use—they are generally served with dinner and not dessert" (Wiki). I think I'll just sit back and eat them ! (Ronnie)
We have several varieties. Beautiful and tasty heirlooms. It is always a shame when we have to start buying them at the store in the late fall.
25 Sep 2018 12:16am
The best tomatoes are either home grown or from a farmers market.
25 Sep 2018 12:40am
@Irene: Very true . . but the slugs usually ate my plantings before I could ! (Ronnie)

Tomato season is almost over here.
25 Sep 2018 10:11am
Both are delicious
25 Sep 2018 11:21am
Ronnie picks the pretty tomatoes. Why not is the one that polishes them .
25 Sep 2018 5:17pm
The tomatoes that are grown now are almost artificial. They pollinate the flowers artificially and all the tomatoes come out the same. Maybe it's pure chemistry, but that's what happens now. Poor mortals who eat badly. Of course the Lilly tomatoes should also be artificial. However I eat many tomatoes and I like them !. Seasoned with oil, salt and pepper are delicious.
25 Sep 2018 5:22pm
@Adela Fonts: Yums !
For once, I am safe....We eat our little tomatoes right off the vine plant that Barbara's sister has growing in the back yard...Yummmmm!
25 Sep 2018 5:49pm
@Denny Jump: Way to go ! (Ronnie)
Nothing tastes better than a fresh, juicy home grown tomato. Blemishes or not. And it doesn't get much more taste-free than boxed "polished" globes of genetically engineered to be boxed substitute tomatoes.
26 Sep 2018 2:43am
@Harry: Smiles . . I'm sure you are right ! (Boxed Ronnie)

@Mireille T.: I know you are right . . (Ronnie)
